Ear Infection Pain And Sleep
SPEAKER_021978. I am battling a fierce ear infection right now.
SPEAKER_01Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_02I went to the doctor today, and because I've I've had the pain in my ear and it goes down to my jaw. I've had it for at least two weeks, and over the weekend, it just finally hit that point of where I felt like I was taking crazy pills that hurt so bad. Wow. Oh my gosh. And I have a super high pain threshold, but I'm like, this isn't getting any better. So of course I can't call the doctor's doesn't tell they open on Monday. So yesterday I called and got the appointment for today, and she, you know, squeezed me into her schedule. And she's like, she looked in, she goes, Yeah, you got some fluid buildup, and it looks pretty angry in there. Oh my god. Oh, great. Thanks so much. She goes, Yeah, here's a prescription for antibiotics. I sent them over to your pharmacy already. Just go pick them up. And I'm just like, Oh, yeah, that's not good.
SPEAKER_03Those earaches as an adult hurt so bad.
SPEAKER_02It literally feels like someone took a knife and just stabbed it in my ear and then just left the knife there.
SPEAKER_01Oh my Jesus.
SPEAKER_02And it's like that's the pain. I couldn't fall asleep. I went to bed and it took me over two hours to fall asleep because my the pain was so bad. And like a leave and Tylenol doesn't cut it. Right.
SPEAKER_03No, it's just a very specific type of pain.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. And it just, like I said, it feels like I have a knife stuck in the side of my head.
SPEAKER_01You're trying to sleep, and all you're doing is trying to focus on sleeping. You're now focusing on the pain and sleep even worse.
SPEAKER_02On sleeping on the other side and not rolling over in your sleep to the painful side and waking up going, ah, I'm away.
SPEAKER_03Hey, hi, how are you doing? Earaches as a grown-up and strep throat as a grown-up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I don't know. The flu sucks pretty bad too.
SPEAKER_01I had the flu and that mocked me on the gosh. And my gout is just, oh it's it's joking. I'm joking. I'm still old people. The old people's duff.
SPEAKER_02Oh so it did. Oh, I Joanne, I watched that. Um oh, so that that's why I'm slightly gonna be maybe a little off tonight because I'm just I'm a little loopy from the antibiotics kicking in and feeling just kind of
Netflix Murderer Marriage Documentary
SPEAKER_02so yeah. So just bear with me. Well, good. Uh the oh so Joanne, yeah, I watched on Netflix the why would you want to marry a murderer or who would marry a murderer, or why taking notes someone do if they married a murderer? Yeah, it's not whatever it's called. Right. I watched it because it was it's only three parts, and it's like you know, 40 some minutes each. So it was like, okay.
SPEAKER_03Really quick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it's just one of those things, and it could have so simply been taken care of if it was just done right the first time. Right. And like you just bury secrets and bury secrets and literally bury secrets, and then they catch, and then you're fucked. Right?
SPEAKER_03And it's like worse than you would have been in the first place.
SPEAKER_02Right. So to bring Dave and the listeners up to the speed, it's these two brothers that are they in Ireland, is that where they are? Or are they in London or in England?
SPEAKER_03Uh I thought they sounded Irish. I'm gonna say like England, but like near Scotland. Maybe they were from Scotland. Maybe that's what it was on something because they had the accent. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, anyway, so these two brothers, they live out on like farmland out in the country on it's an estate or something like that, that they they tend to the estate for the owners, kind of like thing. So they they basically just take care of type thing. And you know, they go and they shoot, you know, wild animals on the property to, you know, and all that, and you know, the these other stuff. So he gets on the one of the brothers gets on a dating app and finds this woman who's a doctor, and I think she was in London. And she because she drove to the out to the country, like, yeah, because it was like an hour and a half drive or something, and I was like, that's it? That's your that's your drive out into the country. I was like, I drive that to work every day. I don't I don't know what yeah.
SPEAKER_03Do you remember what kind of doctor she was?
SPEAKER_02Uh she was a mortician, wasn't she?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, she was the the uh coroner or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the head coroner in the yeah, in the hospital thing. And so anyway, and so she was, you know, you know, studied and while she was younger, and now she while she still wanted to date someone and whatever. So she matches with this guy and then goes and meets him, and everything's great, and they're all like a lovey-dovey, and everything's awesome, and like in a very quick amount of time, like you know, he proposes to her and she's like, Oh my god, we're getting married, and all stuff like that. And then he has to tell her his dark secret. Oh, Jesus.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02So fast forward like a couple years before this, uh, then he and his brother are out drinking at the local pub and they leave, and they're like beyond the limit, like way beyond the limit. And they're driving down these little, you know, backcountry roads in the dark, and they hit a bicyclist and kill him. Oh shit. So instead of going to the police because they're drunk and saying, Hey, we accidentally hit this guy, we didn't see him, it was dark. I mean, the conditions, whatever, blah, blah, blah. And and just from the beginning, just not telling police, they decide, oh shit, we've got to take care of hide the body. Oh, geez.
SPEAKER_01So they did a um uh thing, uh, I know what you did last summer scenario.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, sort of kind of thing. Yeah, and they they take the body and then they bury it out on the estate property because they have like access to a backhoe and all this stuff to dig the hole.
SPEAKER_03But at first, he was not dead. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that was it. He wasn't killed by the impact of the car. They said he was likely to have he he lived for probably another 30 to 45 minutes. So he would have lived. He would have lived if he had gotten medical attention in that time, and they didn't call for an ambulance. So it turned it turns from manslaughter into murder because they let him die.
SPEAKER_03They let him die, and they went home and like changed it. Yeah, changed the call.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and he put the call with the damage on it, and yeah, all just all this stuff, and it was just all this horrible stuff. And this girl is still in love with him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and the whole thing too is like she is so torn because she's like a doctor.
SPEAKER_02A doctor, professional industry, and right, well, but she loves him.
SPEAKER_01And yeah, but he's gonna create jobs for her, right? I mean, like, what do you do here? You gotta do that. Right.
SPEAKER_02I mean, and they did discuss that at one point where like he was very used to like, you know, skinning, you know, deer and all this stuff like that, and she goes and cuts up people for a living.
SPEAKER_01And like, was it a coincidence that they both have like this no? Yeah, two different things, but okay. Yeah, wow.
SPEAKER_03They when she decided to stick, no, she she turned them in, but then they hid out at her house.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, she let them come to them for like a month.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and hide out wow without real evidence. Well, you know, when it's good, it's good, right? No, you can't, you know.
SPEAKER_03I mean, and but then she like decided to move to the country with that. Anyway, there's this whole tale of drug abuse and just debauchery. Was she just asking?
SPEAKER_02I mean, come on, right. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00It was bad.
SPEAKER_01Say the wrong thing.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. It's worth the watch, Dave. It's like I said, it's three parts, 45 minutes each on Netflix. And it's why should I marry a murderer? Is that what it was?
SPEAKER_01I barely did my big brother homework, so come on now, really.
SPEAKER_02We got to pick and cheese these years.
Big Brother Unlocked Backlash
SPEAKER_02Speaking of, hey, so everybody watched Big Brother? I did watch the show. Okay, gotcha. So you we saw that who got kicked off again? It was Camu.
SPEAKER_03And I tried Camu. I tried to get him two wife, two potential wives because of his plea that if you want to marry me and you're serious, DM me two coconuts.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, two coconuts, and he'll get back to you. But he told that to everybody. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_03Oh well.
SPEAKER_02They don't want an MMA fighter who with the cauliflower earlier. Broken nose, and yeah.

SPEAKER_01So did Angela So I saw uh okay, so my problem was a little one blockbuster and came off the block. Okay, which she said she peed almost Peter Pan or Peter Pantson. Yeah, that's the one thing. I was like, oh my gosh, these staff members really have to do a lot of crap at these things. Yeah, exactly. Um and take care of some stuff. Who knows what's going on in those water events? Um, so um, but um I was watching an episode and it looked like it was the Big Brother Unlocked episode. It wasn't like the action episode.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So what they did is they tried to trick the viewers and force them into watching Unlocked into the Sunday show this past week. And believe me, the online uproar over that. Like why are you trying to trick us into watching the movie?
SPEAKER_01It was so horrible. That's why I didn't really get to the end of it, but oh Jesus.
SPEAKER_03It took forever. It took forever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it didn't move along very well. It's like watching Well, there's only two more episodes of Unlocked, so that's you know, oh thank gods. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Because then it's jury, is that uh no, because it's every other Friday.
SPEAKER_02They have two episodes in September and then the finale's the first week of October.
SPEAKER_03Why does it feel like that?
SPEAKER_02CBS has football, so that's probably why. Uh well no unlocked it comes on a Friday nights in that dead time slot. Yeah, but you got the Sunday, right?
SPEAKER_01That was a Sunday episode aired on Sunday. Right, right. But the rest of them are all Fridays. Oh, they are, okay. Yeah, they're not. Well, I don't know what I'm watching if I'm not watching.
SPEAKER_03I can't watch the Survivor Domination. Like they're gonna win.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Which is fine. I mean, they're great players.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right? True.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, you just you can't beat them, and they're just knocking people off one by one.
SPEAKER_02Taking them apart. Exactly. Because it's gonna it's gonna be Latrice and Taylor and Yosh next. Yeah. And those three three go down, and then the rest of them have to churn on each other.
SPEAKER_03And you know, why was Taylor having an absolute hissy fit?
SPEAKER_02She lost her cheese after the vote. Oh, yeah, well that we find out tomorrow overnight. She was the only one.
SPEAKER_01I mean, because I think she was the only one that voted Haley or whatever. Or something, yeah, when it was whatever that was.
SPEAKER_03It did a little bit of the anger.
SPEAKER_02Who knows? Yeah. I mean, at least the Angela Jason thing when that blew up after the the nomination thing. I could see it. Right. And there was build up, better build-up for that. But this is just like all of a sudden Taylor just goes off and it's like, what? Crazy. Pump the brakes, girl.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I thought it was just me because you know how I know it seemed very edited and good.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think there was some drama with her circle. Because the other two girls were trying to we were trying to tell you, but we couldn't, you know, that kind of crap. But I mean, but if they don't know who voted for who, then why would it matter? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03The other thing is just take the block. Pretty much everybody goes on the block. Take the block, just play your game, right? Try to get off the block.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Like everybody's like in the DR crying, oh, it's so difficult and hard to be on the block.
SPEAKER_03Right? And then I laughed when um Drew got the got the never not.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03We don't even know what that is. Rotating bed? We've never seen that. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_02They've only shown it like twice when people are sitting on there talking, not actually sleeping. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03I have so many.
SPEAKER_02And that that power this late in the game is so useless. Because because when they go to jury, don't they stop doing the have nots at jury? So they're only like a week or two away from that. So he's like he's for the next two weeks, he he's gonna be a have not for the rest of the season.
SPEAKER_00Such a useless power.
SPEAKER_02Nice. Um anyway, and yeah, so wait, who won again? It was uh D. Yeah, D won again and put up Taylor and Latrice and Drew, right?
SPEAKER_03And Drew, yeah. But I'm assuming he's the pawn.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, supposedly.
SPEAKER_03So I mean, who knows? I don't know, we'll see.
SPEAKER_02He's been riding the middle all season. If he goes, he goes, and if he doesn't he doesn't, and yeah, blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_03He's a nice kid, but yeah, whatever.

Chicken News Plus Viral Whale Clip
SPEAKER_02Oh. So, Joanne, what was your what what did you have going on besides wrangling chickens? We're late to recording tonight because she had to go wrangle the chicken.
SPEAKER_01We were wrangling chickens late, late in the evening.
SPEAKER_03Well, not for them. Because they go to sleep when the sun goes down. Their bedtime is in 10 minutes from now.

SPEAKER_03This first one, he got on her back, pinned her down, and she started screaming naturally. Oh, Jesus. And he got with his beak, pulled up the skin on her neck and her feathers. Jesus.

Two Head-On Driving Scares
SPEAKER_01Okay. Did you know? Remember the night uh we left. I left late on uh the last recording. Yeah. And driving home, uh, someone decided to be on my side of the road uh going at speed. And I'm like, what the hell? Now this wasn't the towards you on your side of the road. No, yeah, yeah, right. On seven, there it's like, you know, that's 50 some miles an hour.
SPEAKER_02So it's a divided four-lane highway.
SPEAKER_01Right. And they were not on their side. They somehow turned left into our my lane.
SPEAKER_02To uncoming traffic. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I'm laying on my horn and they're not stopping. They just kind of blew right by me. And I went, Jesus God. And luckily I was in the right side, right lane of that. When I do that, I drive drive intentionally in the right lane. Uh, because no one's on the road, but uh, yeah, Jesus God. And then of course interacted in three different deer uh on the way too same night. So then that was interesting. And then later this week, uh Lisa and I had an encounter where someone tried to drive into us on the wrong side of the road, also. So it's just a thing, I guess. I'm not sure what is happening with driving. I'm understanding people just must be distracted just because of their lives and everything. Yes, not so much phones, but this.
SPEAKER_03So I was driving in my neighborhood, which is like a one it's not like a one lane, I mean, that sounds weird. It's like one and a half lanes wide, but it's paved and everything.
SPEAKER_01Right, it's a single road, right?
SPEAKER_03Single road. So this tractor was in front of me that was doing work or whatever, and he was going slow. So I went over to the left to pass him. And as I'm passing him, this big truck comes barreling towards me, not stopping. Okay, well, um and I'm like, broad daylight. Oh, you needed right here.
SPEAKER_01Get over and get out of the way. He didn't kind of come over into his.
SPEAKER_03But no, no, I I came over, no one was there. That's how fast he was going.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's how fast.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yes, he came around the neighborhood. Um, he's probably going 50 straight at me.
SPEAKER_01Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_03I had to honk before he started to slow down. And I was so confused. I'm like, did I do something wrong? Like, I I really thought that it was my fault that I almost got hit head on instead of realizing this guy was.
SPEAKER_01I think I think in court it would have been your fault. It kind of would have been seeing as how you were passing through.
SPEAKER_03But it's not it's not a divided road.
SPEAKER_01It isn't, no. I'm wondering if road rules apply. I mean, if it was a Mad Max scenario, you definitely would have been uh eaten, yes.
SPEAKER_02Right. But if you were in Australia, you'd be driving on the other side of the road. So it never would have happened to start with. Right, you would have been in the tractor would have been in So when you would have been fine. Right. Wait, do they drive on the other side of the road in Australia? Or is that only in the UK?
SPEAKER_01That might just be UK and I don't think it's Australia correction and South Africa, right?

So Utah is on the Colorado side. So Utah is on that side. So Nevada is on the California side. Okay. Um, and then we mentioned um the Jonas Brothers' wife, Priyanka, is it Priyanka Chopra? Um, yeah, she uh has a lot of credits under her name. She won uh Miss World. And not just softcore porn. No, not at all. Uh Miss World 2000. Um she's India's highest paid actress in movies. SPEAKER_01Yes, yes, she did, and that's why she was uh India's highest uh paid actress. But uh yeah, and and uh she only has an 11-year uh difference in uh ages of uh Joe and his brother. So it's not horrible, no.

1978 Tech That Built Today
SPEAKER_02Um, personal computing, microprocessors, and digital software was what was shaping the modern technology. Amazing. Um Atari. There was, yeah, Atari was that that's underfunding. Games later, don't step down. Wow, we are all over. The Intel 8086 microprocessor was released in June of 78, and it was a 16-bit chip. Oh, that's it. That set the art of our architectural foundation for the x86, which started to use countless personal computers for decades. Yeah, PCs. Yeah. So they there was they did the microprocessor. GPS debuted. Really? Yes. The United States Department of Defense launched the first block of global positioning systems, GPS satellites in 1978.
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, I can't believe it was that early.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Interesting. Uh there was always military or NASA or some weird science uh breakthrough that has those types of scenarios. And then we're then all of a sudden it's in every phone.

SPEAKER_03You know what? You know how there's they always say like we've made such leaps and bounds in the past decade or whatever. But if this stuff was out in 1978, have we really made that much progress?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01Well, okay, commercial use, right? I mean, because those are those were definitely locked away uh behind uh military secrets, but uh commercially, we wouldn't have seen it yet. So that's probably why. And that's why the leaps and bounds, because we actually get to use it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And then they've already developed it, and so we can just like boom, boom, boom, boom.
SPEAKER_01Of course, and then also uh steal everybody's information from it. So that's perfect, right? It's like everything's there. Exactly. It's right in front of you. Just right there. Go ahead and use it. Why not? We know where you are, it's okay. We're not tracking you or anything.
SPEAKER_02Also, that year was the TCP IP splitting where the transmission control program was split into transmission control protocol, a TCP, an internet protocol, an IP in version three in nineteen seventy eight, paving the way for the modern internet network. Wow.

SPEAKER_02Uh there was some company in Boise, Idaho, that was formed, no big deal.

SPEAKER_02They just became like a major global manufacturer of computer memory and data storage, but that's okay. Was that Intel? No, Microsoft. Oh, Microsoft. Micro technology. Yeah. So this one I thought was cool was Intel developed the 2816, which was the first electrically erasable programmable read-only memory chip.

SPEAKER_02I know, it was a mouthful, right? Wow, yeah. Um, allowing data to be selectively erased and reprogrammed electronically. So the EEPRO.

1978 News From Blizzard To Bundy
SPEAKER_01this was all over the place. Um, and I definitely overlap my music here. So um the Sex Pist Pistols had their final tour. The Sex Pistols. Um the Sex Pistols had their final tour. Um, they uh decided that that was gonna be uh their final tour. Uh NASA had their first women as astronauts, uh, so that was breaking the ceiling. That was good. Um your Dallas Cowboys beat the Denver Broncos because I wanted to make sure no one had sports because I always have to mention when Dallas does well. So um and that was in Super Bowl 12. Super Bowl 12. Super Bowl 12. I can't believe it was Super Bowl. We were just 12 at that point. And we were just at number 12. Yeah, that's that's crazy. That's insane. Um, the last VW Beatle uh was made in Germany in 78 before the resurgence, which was in 1998. Yep. Remember that.

SPEAKER_01Is that when the yeah, the rotational uh new VW? Always nice, always good. Um we had a major blizzard on the northeastern coast, uh, which caused a hundred deaths. And it was over three full days uh that this blizzard was in place. Um I was like, Was that on the President's Day weekend? Yes, I believe it was, and it was yeah, it was very early in my uh thing.

SPEAKER_02It was just like I remember we had a 7 Eleven at the top of our hill, uh-huh, and we had to hike up Delaney Road and hike up through that snow just just to get to the 7-Eleven to see if they had milk. Of course.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. But then you could slide all the way back.
SPEAKER_02Not really. I mean, it was because it was it wasn't that type of snow. It was just high hard.
SPEAKER_01It was high and it was 54 inches in Boston. And I remember it being uh high enough that when I jumped off of uh my neighbor's truck, if it had the back of a pickup truck, uh, off the bumper, I dropped into it and it was like major, like almost a foot, a foot and a half of snow above me. So yeah. Right. Yeah. And I was I was a small kid then, back then. I yeah. I was in as meaty as I was now. Um yes, yes. And it seemed to be the year of mass murderers. Uh they caught Ted Bundy, he was recaptured in Florida. Cool. And uh we had John Wayne Gacy. Uh that was that was fun. Uh yeah, so there was that. Um, yeah, and um, and then this mystery, which was kind of weird. I'm not stepping on anybody, am I? No. Um, Charlie Chaplin's grave and remains were stolen in an extortion plot. Now, what why again, dead, right? I mean, come on. Like, what what are you gaining by stealing bones? Right. I mean kidnapping, but yeah, kidnapping a reverse kidnapping, right? I mean, come on, because what do you gain? Yeah, I guess, but like unless you could prove something with the body, that made no sense. I I was like, that that doesn't seem right. Um, and historical, uh, we had the Susan B. Anthony coin uh approved for production that year, which was the one dollar uh coin, which freaked out all of the um uh uh the uh vending machines because they didn't know how to handle them. And people were putting them in and it was a quarter, so yeah, the size, they just didn't get the size.
SPEAKER_03But it was thicker, right?
SPEAKER_01But they still they couldn't it was a little thicker, but the vending machines back then in 78 weren't exactly as technologically advanced as they are right now. A dollar coin just did not make any sense to them. So they thought those were quarters, so yeah, people losing their money. Um, so the Gilligan's Island castaways were rescued in the Gilligan's Island rescue uh movie. Um that was uh that year. Uh we had uh Pope John Paul II was elected.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, and uh we uh the movie Halloween premiered along with a bunch of other ones. We had uh Superman, uh Dawn of the Dead, Grease, if we remember Grease, and uh Deer Hunter were another one. Oh Deer Hunter. Um yeah, and uh we had uh Wayne Gretzky was sold to Edmonton from the Indianapolis Racers of the WHA. Yep.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, Dwayne Jetsky. That guy. You know, we've heard that. Uh yeah. See, that was the WHA was the farm league. Yeah, he was probably like 20. Yeah, I'm sure that they were uh kicking themselves after that one. Right. And there we go. Cool.

Space Invaders And Atari Memories
SPEAKER_02All right. My next topic was our is Fun and Games. And the the big notary of Fun and Games that year was Fun and Games, a British television game show was broadcast on uh BBC four. So there you go. Fun and games. That was the big games. The show was actually called Fun and Games. Oh, it was when I and it came out, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So when was the premise? I don't know.
SPEAKER_03To have fun and play games. Fun and play games.
SPEAKER_02That was tiddly wings. It wasn't meant to be like way too soon.
SPEAKER_03I need to know how many episodes. I was just wondering what the game was.
SPEAKER_01It was a game show. I just figured that the you know they were gonna give away money and yes, they're just throw the ball on the average. I'm thinking ESPN 8, you know, the show. Oh, yeah, all the dumbass what in a train. Yeah, that's folding the or yeah, putting your bed blend in the stuff. Yeah, the airplane targeting, yes, the paper airplane.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, so 78 was big video game year, so that's when Space Invaders came out. And as Joanne mentioned earlier, the Atari. Yeah, the Atari was out. So Space Invaders, Super Breakout Football, Basketball, and Maze Craze were all on the Atari 2600. Nice.
SPEAKER_01So I always thought it was weird that they also had like the stand-up arcade game of that and had it on Atari. And I was like, well, why would I waste a quarter playing that one when it's right at home?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but that's some people didn't have it.
SPEAKER_01You roll the dice on that one. Exactly. Um, yeah. Yeah, Space Invaders was exactly the same. It was. It was amazingly the same. On both.
SPEAKER_03But your scores wouldn't transfer like they would.
SPEAKER_01No, you couldn't. I remember um actually there was a contest where you had to roll over the score and you had to take a picture of it, and you sent it in. Yes, I can remember that. I had an actual camera of it. The the film developed to get the picture. And I think I missed the deadline. But um I do have somewhere, uh, I think, a picture of a score of me on with uh um Space Invaders Atari.
SPEAKER_02Is that with the picture of your mom and dad dressed like a pimp and it is?
SPEAKER_01I have a feeling that all of those pictures. Those pictures are all in the same binder. Or maybe I just imagined it and I never took a picture of these things. Or you never got a development. No proof of it.
SPEAKER_03Burned in your memory.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I have no clue. There's a little one-tin camera somewhere that's somewhere that has uh or 17 rolls of film of my entire life and never been in development. Never been that someone's sitting on somewhere in a uh uh an antique shop.
SPEAKER_02I think the only proof they can develop the older stuff like that is in it's in Kansas at like the Kodak main plant or something. They're the only ones that have like the chemicals that you can still develop.
SPEAKER_03But I thought these kids have film cameras now. Like it's all come back around. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't know either, but they may have to do it at home, like a DIY. I know that I have at home a huge dresser full of pictures with negatives. And if I wanted to, and it's all from Lisa's uh uh family and everything like that, but there's a ton of negatives too. You had to keep the negatives. So then I think I knew that that there was a lot of stuff where the pictures with the negatives. Um and those negatives should be used to make new pictures, right?
SPEAKER_03And I thought they haven't faded, right?
SPEAKER_01Uh that I'm sure they were they were just eaten alive by time. I'm pretty sure that they're just ruined. But um, I thought that nowadays you could send in your VHS and they re-digitalize them.
Digitizing VHS And Saving Voices
SPEAKER_02You you can, and it's it's funny that you mentioned that. I actually got this little gadget that I had been wanting, and I got it for my birthday last week. Oh. And it actually plugs straight into a VCR or into a camcorder or something like that, and you can just digitally transfer it right there and there through this little box and there's a monitor on it. You hit the record button, what you want to record off of the old tape, and you plug a USB into the side of it, and it goes straight, uh, creates the file on the USB, and you've got it, and you can plug it in your computer or wherever you want. And like so, and it it completely digitizes those old, almost lost moments of video tape. Right. That's so good.
SPEAKER_01I actually none of our stuff's on the internet. Right. Because we never none of our stuff made it to the internet.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it was really funny. Um, we were doing that with some videos from when Reagan was little, and we were with my nephew, and my nephew was born just a few months after my dad died, and he had never heard his voice. So we were sitting there and he's like, That's what he sounds like. So it was it was really cool. Yeah, because you know, we tell stories about him, and you know, right all this stuff.
SPEAKER_02Of course. And I've I've said, we've been doing this podcast for three years, and I've said I've I've left a body of work for one day if my kids or even grandkids want to go back and listen.
SPEAKER_03I was just thinking that the other day, too.

Two Real One Fake Bands

Homemade Grape Soda Taste Test

SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Dave comes wheeling in with this with this cooler bag, and I'm like, I said, is it anything crunchy? Because right now my my ear and my jaw is it hurts to eat. It hurts to talk. It hurts like when I sneeze. It hurts. Oh my god, it's just like a stabbing pain constantly. Anyway, so Dave goes, No, don't worry, it's nothing that you eat. It's nothing.
SPEAKER_01It's nothing to this is interesting. So um, I don't know if you've watched, but I had a bumper crop of grapes come in. And these were Concord and Katabas. Right. That you make with your feet. I smashed them with my feet and I made juice out of them. Right. And then made it into a syrup, and then I found a recipe of a concoction to make grape soda. Okay. So here is your grape soda.
SPEAKER_02This is cute. Yes. Well, it's Kirkland brand and everything.
SPEAKER_01I actually emptied my purified water bottles so I can make them. And Joanne, I'll have extra uh when you come up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01Yeah, so I'm thinking I might have to cut it a little more with the uh soda, the club soda, because I it's basically uh it is a bit syrupy. Yeah, it's a little but I don't mind that. But I know and it's like a whole yeah, if this was uh 20 ouncer, that'd be different. But that's more like what um I would think Welch's is kind of. If you had to drink a lot of Welch's, you really couldn't. Yeah, but yeah. Um so I think if I can cut it a little more uh like a uh three to two kind of like three parts to two parts of syrups, and I think that with the club side, that would actually be a little better. Okay. And a little fuzzier, but you know, fun. Yeah, so I'm gonna see if your kids like it because I have I have like six more in there.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. I'll put them in the fridge and then go. What's this? I'm like, oh, it was uh the brake fluid that drained out of the car. Just try it.
SPEAKER_01Give it a try. Don't touch it. I was cooling it down. Yeah, you need to be cool. Don't drink that. Don't drink that. Don't drink that. Don't drink that. Don't try that. That's brake fluid. Don't do that. Yes, exactly. Cool. Thank you. Yeah, no problem. I you know, and again, I'm always experimenting, so yeah, that was an interesting one. And and it and the whole house just smelled like cooking grapes when we were doing it. So it just had that grape smell in the entire house. Cool. So it actually was pretty good. Very cool. So and surprised that it was actually, again, uh something from the garden that Lisa did. So it was actually really cool. And we've been experimenting with some of that. I can't believe how many there were. Like I still have half of that load of grapes in my freezer.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01So I can make more syrup, but I'm thinking I might make some jelly. Ooh, some grape jelly. So I might see. I would definitely be down for some grape jelly. Yeah, and she's also growing some of the ones that are the seedless grapes. Right. Um, and those are over a different area, but they haven't produced yet because they're still growing. But next year, I'm probably gonna get that. So in season four, we may have some seedless grape stuff coming.
SPEAKER_03So like wine.
SPEAKER_01Um, maybe or maybe I haven't heard that mentioned yet. Well, so the katabas do something like that, but the concords are not for that, but mainly for the juice, like this was. And you and it was great, it was purple. Like I wasn't expecting it to be purple because the the juice and the and the guts of the inside of the grape didn't seem to be purple, but that was my plastic bottle creaking by the creakies? I was I was sucking the juice out. I was like, yeah.
SPEAKER_03So did you um use also the skins?
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, yeah. So what you do is you just take the whole grape, uh, take it off the little whatever, uh stem, and then you throw them all in, and then you just ma I was mashing them to get them. And shake them all about. Yeah. Do the hooky pokey and you turn yourself around. Well, you know, you do step on them. So and then I was using I was stepping on everything and uh creating a nice mash kind of thing. And then you add water same uh half cup of sugar, half cup of water per uh pound of grapes, which is probably why it's so crazy ass sweet, because I don't have a scale. So I didn't know what one pounds was, so I looked it up and it said 80 grapes make up a pound, but the grapes were small. Yes, so the those are like real-sized grapes, like big ones, like uh mass-produced grapes, like the bigger ones.
