Welcome And Today’s Catch Up
SPEAKER_042024. I went to buy a car today. Holy son. So my son has been working his butt off for the past two summers. Okay. Saving up every penny he has to buy a car because he's he is a gearhead. He's 16. He's got his driver's license now. He's drives me everywhere. I mean, he's I trust him. He is a very good driver. It just so and we we had told him that like he was to save up his money
Shopping For A First Car
SPEAKER_04and whatever he put in, we would match it.
SPEAKER_05Good call. Okay.
SPEAKER_04So so we're buying the car together. So he wants a Fiat 500 A Barth. Okay. And the Abarth is a he was a Italian designer, car designer. Uh London's gonna correct me on that if I get it wrong. Anyway, so they they're the Fiat 500s, but it's a more souped-up version based off of you know what what a Barth would have done with I guess if Fiat 500. I don't know. Okay. Anyway, because he died years ago. Um anyway, because he was the rival in Italy to Ferrari. Oh, okay. So he was he was the big, yeah, as I recall. I'm I may get corrected on that. Anyway, so we we've been looking for a Fiat 500 at Abarth for the whole summer. We found one that had a it's they don't make them anymore, so you can't buy them new. And so they made them between I think it was 2012 to 2019. Okay. So the one we found, we found one that was had 38,000 miles on it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_04From 2013. So it was 13 years old. Right.
SPEAKER_01Wow, that's really good.
SPEAKER_04It is really good because every other one that we found are in the 70 to 150,000 mile range. Of course.
SPEAKER_01I'm at my that's how old my car is. Right. You just did you say 2013?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. 137,000 miles.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. So so finding a car with 38,000 miles on it.
SPEAKER_01Now is it uh like did it go 999999?
SPEAKER_04And now it's all like a wrap all the way around. No, it's a it's a digital, yeah. No, it's it's rolled about it. Yeah, the the tampering easy rolling year, yeah, thing.
SPEAKER_01The rolling is over.
SPEAKER_04We had to go to Stafford, Virginia, which is an hour and a half away from us. Right.
SPEAKER_01And but did you pass by Buckeys?
SPEAKER_04No, we didn't because we didn't go that route. Oh we went 81 and then we got off on 66 and then go 66 down. Okay, yeah, yeah. Yeah, but whatever.
SPEAKER_07Gotcha, gotcha.
SPEAKER_04I woke up early at 11 o'clock, which is super early for me. Yes. Not anyone else in the real world, but for me. But I work again, I'm night, a night person and yeah, and all that. So I got up early for my son so we could go go get the car, and you know, we got all the money in the you know, bank account we needed it in to have, you know, it all in one place because we weren't gonna finance it. We were paying for it because he saved up and we matched it, and you know, so you know, there's no like you know, payment plan or anything. So we were you know buying it outright, but we didn't tell the dealership that, of course.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um we drive the hour, or I called when I got up and I said, Hey, just want to make sure it's available. And the guy said, Oh yeah. I said, Okay, cool, we'll be there around one o'clock. And we got there around like 120 or something like that, and went in and they had it, you know, parked out front and like because they knew we were coming. And we got in and we're like, all right, this is cool. And like we're looking closer at it, and like, you know, it's got you know, some some it's a black colored car, and it's like a small little car. It's got some uh paint fade on the hood and on the roof, really. And it's just like that doesn't like buff out. That's you know, like, you know, yeah, and it was like, okay, so it's you know, it's a 13-year-old car, it's been out in the sun, obviously, probably parked in the same spot for what because it only has 38,000 miles on it.
SPEAKER_07Right.
SPEAKER_04We get in the inside. Yeah, we get in the inside. The inside's okay. I mean, it's not like you know, worn only one of the like you know, stereo buttons was kind of worn down, and you know, but again, 13-year-old car.
SPEAKER_01Right, right.
SPEAKER_04You know, I I can't expect it to be like, you know, brand spanking new, you know. Yeah, right. Or even looking, you know, like that. So we get out and we walk around it, and like they has the Abarth stickers down the side, like uh pinstripe kind of things, and like the sticker on one side of it on the driver's side, the stickers were like worn because it's red on black, and like the corners look I don't know if somebody tried to peel them off or something. Oh and we're just like I don't know. So we're we're trying to convince ourselves to like the car. Oh because of the mileage, and yeah. So I, you know, I told my son the whole plan. I said, you know, first of all, for weeks I've told him, don't be, don't, you know, be afraid. We might have to walk away from the table while negotiating. Hard lesson, but and and I said, so don't be upset. I said, and you need to just follow my lead, and you know, he's like, got it, I got it, okay. And we check out the car, and yeah, it's got some wear and tear to it. It's a 13-year-old car. Right. But with 38,000 miles, that kind of wear and tear on it, it was a little like something just didn't feel right. Yeah. So we we he's they still put plates on it. We took it for a test drive, yeah, uh like you know, two miles up the road, went, found a parking spot, you know, plugged in the little fix it thing into the reader to check to see if it had any it issues that weren't displayed. You know, we do it all that stuff, and you you know, look around some more. And I told told my son, I said, Okay, when we go back there, this is what I'm offering, and this is what you know, and I said,
Test Drive And Quick Diagnostics
SPEAKER_04just follow my lead. Don't, you know, get and he's like, Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Don't cry.
SPEAKER_04Right. We go in and we come back and we're like, all right, and they had another one that was one year older, 2012. The you know, black, same, you know, just car, but it had 70,000 miles on it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01And gosh, these cars are not being driven.
SPEAKER_04I yeah, exactly. And so I I said to the the guy, I was like, Can we just see the inside of the the other one? Because you're just looking through the window, it looked just more like more pristine, and it's a car that's a year older. And it was, and we got in and like, you know, then I realized that it was manual, and the stick shift was really tight on the first one and the second one, like it was loose like it should be for a manual. Like I was like, okay, this feels right, and you know, I I don't know. I just had like something was feeling wrong. So we go in and we the guy says to us, okay, it's gonna, you know, this is the price. And I came back and I'm like, Well, can you do this? And he goes, No, no, we we we don't haggle for prices and stuff like that. The our prices are set, you know, the way and I'm like, well, first of all, that you didn't that's not posted anywhere that I saw. And you're a private dealership, you're not like some, you know, yeah, you're not CarMax or anything.
SPEAKER_06Well, yeah, or or like the Mercedes dealership, right, right, where they're price levels.
SPEAKER_04And I'm not gonna say the name of the place, but it's just a little tiny private
Negotiation And Walking Away
SPEAKER_04owned car.
SPEAKER_06For goodness sake.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. And he's like, Yeah, there's there's no and I'm like, okay, that's so you can't do this, and he goes, No. And then I'm like, Well, it has this problem and this issue, and like the fading on the paint. And I start going down, you know, like the list, and I said, I also know it's been on your lot for over a hundred days. Right. So and I had also calculated the miles from the original picture, which was posted a line to the miles that it had today, and it's only been driven 23 miles in the past four months. So no one's looking at it. No one's looking at it either. I pointed all I had my stuff ready. I was, you know, and to negotiate and also I guess. And the guy's like, no, and he goes, No, the best, the best we could do is, you know, this this price. And I'm just like, that's the price it says on the website. Right. I'm just and I'm just like, you can't go down to even, you know, I took, you know, went down, you know, just slightly, and he goes, No, no, this is the price it has to be. And I'm just like, nah, and I just I looked at London and I said, That's weird, let's go get lunch, because it's like now, you know, two in the clock, two o'clock in the afternoon. I'm like, let's go get lunch and talk about talk about this. And I just turned to the sales guy and I said, Okay, we'll let you know, but we're gonna go grab lunch. And he's like, Okay, well, let me know. And I'm like, okay, thanks, and walked out. And once we went to Subway, and as soon as we sat down, like, I mean, I just told Lon, I said, No, this is not something's not right. This isn't and it's this isn't the car we're supposed to be getting. This just isn't, and he was like, he goes, Yeah, I'm kind of. I said, you know, we you know, we were standing walking around, you know, taking note of all the issues, you know, basically like trying to sell ourselves, like, okay, this is a good deal. And then what I offered was the guy was just like wouldn't even touch budge off of anything. And I'm just like, all right, dude, whatever. So we walked out of subway and I called the dealership back, and I just said, uh, yeah, tell tell him uh we're gonna pass on the car. Thanks. Oh, nice. Well, you know, so I immediately I had already gone online and had been looking for other ones that in if there were any in the area, and one had popped up that we hadn't seen because we've been following, because they've had this car, like I said, for almost four months. Right. We've been following it online, watching the price drop as over the summer, and then hoping nobody would buy it and blah blah and all that crap. I went and looked and I found another one a little bit closer to us in Chantilly, and it's only been on their lot for 20 days, and the price is cheaper than what this guy was just telling me by like over a thousand dollars. Less some. And it's like so on Friday, London and I are gonna go try to buy a car again.
SPEAKER_06Nice.
SPEAKER_04What's the mileage on that one? It's 77,000.
SPEAKER_06Oh, well, yeah, yeah. I mean, that's that's fine. I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Wow. Right. And he because he's only driving around Winchester as well, he's not long distance or anywhere in this setup.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so what and he's a handy boy. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_04He went to mechanic school for two years. So this is a project car. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06So he But I thought the van was the project car.
SPEAKER_04It was, and then when we had the agreement that yeah, it was mom doesn't feel that it's safe enough.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I get that. It's time. It's time to retire.
SPEAKER_04It might be, it might be time.
SPEAKER_06It doesn't cost me.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we have to do it.
SPEAKER_05But it's still driver.
SPEAKER_06It's not like he's going anywhere. Right, right. And if he didn't want to work on it, he still can. So that's still a good thing.

SPEAKER_04Anyway, so that was my car, my car thing for the day. And yeah, so I'll enough with that. Oh, and I did find, we found out today. Supposedly they're coming Monday to fix our dishwasher.
SPEAKER_06Oh, thank goodness. Oh my gosh. That still took three weeks. Holy correct.
SPEAKER_04Three and a half months since the process started.
SPEAKER_01But after you talk to them, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_04And that's the second computer control unit. Apparently, yes. They're coming on Monday to install it. The second one. If they show up with the wrong one again, I'm just gonna smack it. I there might you might see DC and police stories about a murder. Oh my god. Because I am done.
Dishwasher Repair Drama
SPEAKER_06Joanne and I all have to do the podcast. Yes.
SPEAKER_04You'll have to do it.

SPEAKER_04Netflix. A brand new dishwasher and they can't fix it. Jesus. Speaking of Netflix, you said you watched Toxic Love Story. Did you?

SPEAKER_06I did. I did. We told you it was a total cluster fox. It was insane. I can't believe it. There's so many. Okay, there's so many holes in it that I can't figure out. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06Are we gonna are we gonna do this now? Because uh that could be part of my deal. Um I have to do it. I had a problem with Angela's story of or no, what is it Angela? What no, Michelle. Uh Michelle's answer to did she send the email.

Toxic Love Story Reactions
SPEAKER_04watched it with my wife over the weekend again, and I watched that scene a little bit closer. Yes. And what they specifically asked her and what she says yes, she sent to, yeah, it leads you to believe that she sent all of the emails. That one specific one.
SPEAKER_06Yes, which I understand.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, but she wasn't Lilith and she wasn't the yeah, the whole yeah, all of that.
SPEAKER_01She did you listen to the podcast?
SPEAKER_04Okay, no. Here's I tried. I really tried.
SPEAKER_01So I appreciate this woman. They explained. Oh, you don't like it?
SPEAKER_04Oh no, hold on. For the first seven minutes of the podcast, she's talking about how they're going to talk about the stuff that wasn't on the show. And she keeps she keeps talking in circles to kill time, talking about what's coming up. I felt like I was watching entertainment tonight. What celebrities coming up after the break? And it was just like she never got to the fucking story. And then at the seven-minute mark, you're ridiculous. She's now hold on. She's she's prepared to now move forward past the just talking about what's going to come up, but we're we'll get into that. You know, that's what she was like, but I'm not getting too much because we'll get into it.
SPEAKER_07We'll get into it.
SPEAKER_04After seven minutes of that, she starts the episode and then is playing the audio from the documentary on Netflix that I've already watched. And that went on for two minutes. And I'm like, stop. I'm like, I'm I'm done with this woman. I have no patience. Like she literally's by herself and she's like trying to kill an hour of time. And I was just like, You're just talking in circles.
SPEAKER_01So which is funny because usually she has a chunk of time. Like she doesn't do it as much as she did for this one. But why wouldn't you just I think because she has started doing these like Netflix deep dives, and it's a newer thing for her. So I think it was this one. She spent a lot of time talking about um how Netflix gets the rights, and it's really not Netflix's fault. Because yeah, they already brought producers, blah blah blah. Yeah. So I'm wondering if part of that wasn't her just like introducing her process to new people. But clearly it was bad because you were a new person.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And you didn't like it. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04Good lord. So back to the toxic club story.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was she did send two emails.
SPEAKER_04Right, right.
SPEAKER_01And then so the two emails were directed at what's his name, the guy. And she was going through like a psychotic break. And when people go through psychotic breaks, they often turn very religious, and she was religious anyway.
SPEAKER_06So the two documentary and she said she just might have blathered that out for something.
SPEAKER_01She did. That's all she knew of the emails. So she was like, Yeah, I I did send them, but they never talked to her further about it.
SPEAKER_07Yeah. Yeah, just kind of like that. She just said, Did you send these?
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, then she was in jail for like four months.
SPEAKER_04Yes. Okay, so this killed me, right? So she's in jail for 88 days.
SPEAKER_01Which is not four months. Hold on.
SPEAKER_04And she sued the Anaheim Police Department for wrongful imprisonment. Got money. She did get a settlement. Now that settlement wasn't revealed, but if you dig a little on the internet, the the rule can't. What roughly someone close to her made some comment and spilled it that she got that she won $1.8 million.
SPEAKER_01Which is how she can be a single mother.
SPEAKER_04Her team, her team of of lawyers got 40%. Oh. So they they took $800,000. So she got a million dollars when it's all said and done. Now, take the million dollars, divide that by 88 days, and she was making eleven thousand dollars a day in jail.
SPEAKER_01Wow. I would do that. Ouch.
SPEAKER_04Same here. I'm like Mr. Beast. Hey, I will put me in a jail cell for 88 days for a million dollars.

SPEAKER_06She said that they were she was one of those people who um uh is the victim who likes playing the victim because she had done she had the scam before about pre-cancer or not having cancer or whatever. So she went through all that. So maybe she was just playing along because Ian was it was a thing. But did you see in the middle of it that Ian sold the uh the condo? He sold the condo, and and at the end it said, Oh, and she lost her down payment.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, she never got her down payment back.
SPEAKER_06Oh, really? She got a million. She's in freaking jail, but you know, she didn't get her down payment. I was like, that's just funny that that they had to bring that up.
SPEAKER_01Well, Annie said there was some kind of settlement that they came to be when they split up specifically because of the condo. No, and she was supposed to get proceeds from it. So I don't know if the market had tanked, there were no proceeds, whatever. But yeah, so many holes. So many holes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's just funny. So yeah, homework. Wow.

Big Brother Speed Recap

SPEAKER_01And one of the guys, it's the 20, like the guy that had that haircut too is like 28.

SPEAKER_06Oh, and speaking of kids. Oh, what? Speaking of kids, our my kids were in town.

SPEAKER_06Oh, yeah. And I got to go throw uh with Chase uh like that day. Yeah, and so around five something, we went running out and uh and through for a little bit. So I've renewed my uh disc golf uh love affair. So there was that.

SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah, exactly. Nice I played well, I didn't play the whole round. Actually, in the in about two-thirds of it, I had an issue and had to stop, but yeah, I had an accident. So yeah, I had to do it. I didn't get in the back. He pooped himself. Yeah, more than likely.

Chicken Coop Build Update

SPEAKER_01So finally so finally they did that. But the gate has like um all this space around it that a that a predator could get in. Oh, that's so Mark wants to build like a whole frame around the gate, and it's it's a whole big thing.
SPEAKER_06Or you need a sheepdog. Yeah, so it's a electrical.
SPEAKER_04Just put an electric tensor on the outer side.
SPEAKER_02Right, a patrol or that's true. Yeah, right. Just shock the shit out of the way.
SPEAKER_01Don't give him ideas. Um yeah, every day we've been doing a little bit. Right. We we it down poured again on Saturday, so we couldn't do very much. And tonight we had to stop because we didn't have the right tool to put the handles on the door. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Oh, the fucking Home Depot or Lowe's run. Yes. Jesus. And as soon as you get back and you get the next thing and you're like, fuck, I forgot the right, yes.
SPEAKER_01Luckily, this was just to the garage and back, but the coop isn't near the garage. It was a lot of run-in. Wow. Back and forth. But we only have left to do the um roof on the run extension. We have to put that on, and then we have to install the plastic rain shield over the uh uh roosting box.

SPEAKER_06this. Sydney did go to that. Oh, okay. Oh, she did. They well, it was a it's a thing where they go on Halloween, but what happens is that the cops sit there and chase people away on Halloween. So she went, she they would go on October 30th. Oh. And when she said she went one time, her friend they said they dared each other to walk through it by themselves, by themselves, like individually. When Sydney got out and did it, her friend turned the lights off on a car. And she about beat the crap out of her. But yeah, she was laughing at that. Um, the California small fish you mentioned was the Delta smelt. That's the one that's having a problem. Not sea monkeys this time, but about the same size. Yeah, and supposedly they come from the reservoirs, which is what's the problem, is that they're protected, so then they can only run off so much water for farms and and and personal use. And um, the last one I have is the Bugs Bunny gangster cartoon with Edward G. Robinson was the racketeer rabbit. And it was Ed G. Robinson, but they also had a Peter Laurie character in that one too, which was kind of funny. Gotcha. Yeah, but there were other gangster ones with it that was a was a Rocky and Muggsy one, which is what you may think of as that, but it's notcha.

SPEAKER_04I haven't watched the second one, but I do a quick story about the first one. We saw that in theaters when we took London, my son. And it got to the point where it was maybe 15 minutes from the end, and he's he just looks at me and goes, Can we go? I'm ready.
SPEAKER_03And like, and I'm like, the movie's the movie's still going. Don't you want to see the and he was just like, Oh no, I'm ready to go.
SPEAKER_04Oh, he was like getting up, like I'm gonna I've seen enough of it. Luckily, luckily I made him wait. And then, you know, yeah, we saw the part with you know the elephant, not elephant, what was it? His his emotion. Imaginary friend. Yeah. His imaginary friend, yeah, exactly. We saw that part and it was like bing bong.

SPEAKER_04I tend to not watch ABC shows because they're usually a little too cheesy. Right.

And how many viewing hours do you think Bluey got to be the number one streaming? 68. 68 what? 68 hours a day. 55.6 billion viewing hours. Why many? 55.6 billion. That is insane. Right. My wife was watching fucking Bluey. Like she would turn on the TV and just put it on the background. She goes, Oh, yeah, my kids at school watch it. And she goes, it's kind of fun.
