We've got a dumpster fire of an episode this week. It's 2020! It was the COVID-19 year. What were you doing during the pandemic lockdown?? We discuss Sports, Current Events, Food, Celebrities, Music and Murders & Mystery. We also talk about the 2026 World Cup Soccer and do a little trivia at the end. ;)
Heat Wave, MS, And World Cup
SPEAKER_022020. Okay, I'm not normally a FIFA World Cup watcher guy, which I think I mentioned in the last episode of the episode before that, how like the people that come out of the woodwork during FIFA World Cup and all that. So this weekend, it was 4th of July weekend, so we're now which should have been last week's episode. But anyway, now we're talking about 4th of July weekend. Anyway, so it was a hundred degrees for four days in a row. And that was not even with the heat index. With the heat index, it was like 111, 115. Yeah, we're happy.
SPEAKER_00So horrid.
SPEAKER_02The the air conditioning in my house was struggling to keep up. Like it was getting like 76, 78 degrees. And we normally keep the house around 70, and it was just not like we had to bring out like a box fan. It was just like, you know, because by the time I hit 76, you would think we were dying and sweltering. And it was just like it's only 76, but it's just like when you're used to 70, and yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't know how you guys survived that.
SPEAKER_02So I didn't go anywhere because I have multiple sclerosis MS, which I think's no, and that's not like you know breaking news or anything. Um, and heat is not my friend. Right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Especially excessive heat. And like, you know, when they say on the news, you know, certain certain people of with health conditions should not go out in this. That's me. Basically, perfect. That's me.
SPEAKER_00Don't go anywhere.
SPEAKER_02I'm not leaving the air conditioning. Right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So we're sitting on the couch and the air conditioning, you know, hoping to get through the heat wave and feeling like crap because my MS is kicked in and my son comes downstairs and he goes, Can we watch one of the World Cup games? And I said, Oh, the the FIFA World Cup? And he goes, Yeah. And I'm like, he he had never expressed interest in FIFA World Cup before. He's one of those. Well, he's 13 also. So the last time it came around, I mean, yeah, he wasn't old enough to really be into it. So but now he's into it, and you know, we're watching and stuff. And he is athletic. He did track and field in the spring, and you know, he likes running and he and he wanted to play football, but mom said no because it was too f too much of a contact sport.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then, but soccer is okay. So he's his soccer interest is now peaked because he he enjoys running track and running and doing and he's very athletic. So uh we started watching, we just put the games on and had them on all weekend, and we're watching games. And according to the announcers, apparently I witnessed two of the greatest games in FIFA world. Oh, really? Really?
SPEAKER_00Well, there you go.
SPEAKER_02The the Cape Verde Argentina game.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I did hear about that one, yes.
SPEAKER_02Which was fantastic because no one told Cape Verde they weren't supposed to win. Right. And like they they went up like three goals or something like that, and it was just like, yeah. So but and then Argentina ended up playing, which is uh Messi's teams. Um world famous Messi. And then we watched uh oh, the England game.
SPEAKER_00Um, I heard that was good too.
SPEAKER_02Was it England and Spain? Or was it?
SPEAKER_00I forgot.
SPEAKER_02I don't remember, but anyway, that was another. It was Mexico, yes, Mexico. England, Mexico. And that was another one. Like the commentators like, this is uh like just you know the greatest game of history of FIFA World. Like, so every game is the greatest game in FIFA World Cup.
SPEAKER_00Every game is every game, except for last night's game.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, yeah, that was embarrassing. Wait till I get to that. So hold on, I got I'm getting there. So Saturday, 4th of July, we're sitting on the couch watching FIFA World Cup, just trying to stay cool and not go out in the heat. And my son asked me, he goes, I want I want a soccer ball. And I'm like, We have soccer balls in the garage, they're just debated, I gotta put some air. He goes, No, no, no, I want I want one of the FIFA World Cup soccer balls. And I was like, Oh, okay. Well, so we went online and looked, and I went to Amazon and you know, scrolled through Amazon, and they had the one that he wanted, but it was like, you know, 40 some dollars.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then I just went and Googled it and it took me straight to Adidas's website. Oh, wow. And they're the official sponsor of, you know, and like so we got the ball directly from FIFA for like $10 less than you can get it on Amazon. Oh, that's it. Excellent. And we ordered it Saturday and it came today. It was like on the doorstep. So pulled it out, pumped it up full air. He's excited. He was, you know, holding the ball through the whole you know match that we watched today, which was uh we didn't watch the Egypt um Argentina game without because that was like at 11 this morning.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they Argentina played again already?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and they won today. They came from behind again and won today. Oh, Messi scored again.
SPEAKER_00You can't you can't discount Messi.
SPEAKER_02No, dude, the guy has eight goals just this World Cup, and he leads everybody for goals, and it's just yeah, he's just you know, there's a reason he's the greatest player in the world.
SPEAKER_00Have you been watching Norway?
SPEAKER_02Norway, we did, and I watched them do the row thing at the end, and the the guy um what is his is it Holland? Yeah, whatever his name. Apparently, he went to one of the Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup games and they gave him a jersey with his name on it. So he's like a huge Carolina Hurricanes fan, and they won the Stanley Cup, and now he's in the World Cup playing in the World Cup.
SPEAKER_00Amazing, yeah, amazing. Yeah, supposedly his sister looks just like him and can like imitate him. Yeah, she's she's on TikTok.
SPEAKER_02He's kind of Crow Magnum man looking at it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So she's she is beautiful, they're twins. I think they're twins, but when she does his like walk and stuff, she looks just oh my god, it's hilarious.
SPEAKER_02That's funny. I do have a question about the World Cup cup itself. Okay. Now to me, it's not really a cup. It looks like they were making a trophy and then they left it in the back of somebody's car on a hundred degree day and it melted. Exactly. And then they just pulled it out and were like, that'll work. Okay, that's fine. That'll work. Let's just give them this. Right. It's okay. It's like they left a a foil, a chocolate bar and foil wrapped in in the back of the trunk of the car on a hundred-degree day. It melted, reshaped, and then they just let it you know set back up and it was like, oh, okay, there's the trophy. Here you go.
SPEAKER_00There's a lot of texture to it. There's a lot of texture on it. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Um, so then so last night at work, I actually had a team call out from and forfeit their game because they wanted to stay home and watch the USA. Oh, you're kidding. In the round of 16. Wow. It wasn't even they like they advanced to the championship or something. Oh, but the US has been eliminated in the round of 16 in their past four World Cup appearances big surprise. We're low too.
SPEAKER_00So do you do you know why?
SPEAKER_02Why?
SPEAKER_00Why because we're ranked we're ranked 17th in the world.
SPEAKER_02Oh so we're outside the song. Yeah, yeah. Whatever.
SPEAKER_05It's numbers, it's math. It's all math.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, so I had a team last night forfeit and not show up for their their 850 adult league hockey game because the team was almost over by then. They wanted to stay home and watch the USA. And so when USA lost, I the sadistical side of me was just like laughing. A little bit of a little little dad digs. Like I'm like, yeah, I hope everyone who stayed home to watch the game because they had to watch the World Cup game. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You're hockey players.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly. Yeah, you're not floppers like soccer players. There have been some really hard the flopping, just I can't take it. The fake. I just can't say that. Oh my god, oh my god. I actually joked with Miles on Sunday. I was like, uh, when I forget who it was, I think Norway scored or something like that. Right. And I was like, give me a high five. And he goes and gives me a high five, and I go, oh God, oh my goodness. Oh red card.
SPEAKER_03Oh, red card, oh pull out the red card.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Real good. Oh. Did anybody did you guys see any any do you have any more World Cup thing? Or is that well just on me? That's all I got. Okay, that was just on me. Okay. Uh did you guys go and do fire fireworks?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00We had to do it. I didn't because I stayed in.
SPEAKER_02Because you were hot. I stayed in the house. I did not go. We did not go anywhere.
SPEAKER_00Believe it or not, in central Texas it was much cooler.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was that front pushing through. 92, a nice breeze. It was very pleasant. And we had our big potlock, a huge success. Cool. And then we went to Did I tell you we were going to Patriot Academy?
SPEAKER_05No, no,
Fireworks Plans And Local Traditions
SPEAKER_05no. No, not at all.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So Patriot Academy is this very conservative um facility where they teach about the constitution and constitutional uh firearms training.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Oh, okay. So anyway, shooting guns.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's like a big uh gun range, but they also have like classes on the constitution. And so it's it's very very um governmental.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
Patriot Academy And Constitution City
SPEAKER_00Anyway, they have decided that they don't want to be part of the county and they want to be Constitution City, Texas. Oh to which I say, can their zip code be seven one seven seven six?
SPEAKER_02Okay. Is that a joke? How cool would that be? Oh seventeen seventy six. Oh, I gotcha. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, they had um they had fireworks there, and uh Benjamin Franklin was there, George Washington was there. Wow, oh that was when you sent us the battle for the answer.
SPEAKER_02Sam getting arrested. Yes, yeah. Sam was there. Yes.
SPEAKER_00He was in the court area, and we got to sign the Declaration of Independence, which actually I've been seeing on Facebook a lot of people, a lot of towns did that. I think uh Lovettsville or Percival did it. But everybody kind of around the country had these like big blown-up copies of the Declaration, you could sign it. So that was cool.
SPEAKER_02Nice, yeah, but how would I sign it? John Hancock. Yeah, you can do whatever you want. Big John Hancock.
SPEAKER_00I'll put my actual name on that.
SPEAKER_05No, of course.
SPEAKER_00You know how when you go places for Fourth of July and they're like random places and you're just not really sure how the fireworks are gonna be.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, you roll the dice.
SPEAKER_00They're not like the ones in Vienna. Oh my god, I was telling my friends about that. I'm like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Those are the best when we would go to the Vienna with you and your dad, and yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then get burned by the falling dice from the falling debris.
SPEAKER_02They were so close to the thing.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00I was like, did we sit closer every year, or did the fireworks below, I'm sure. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. We always sat in the same place. Yeah, but these fireworks were really, really good. The they did them behind this huge oak tree, though.
SPEAKER_05So you missed out a little.
SPEAKER_00But the ones you could see, they had some really fun ones I'd never seen before. So, all in all, excellent day. I had to take a four-hour nap on Sunday though, because I was like, I'm still not recovered.
SPEAKER_02I'm my MS and my fatigue right now levels. I have like zero energy. I am just I'm like lightheaded, I'm nauseous, like non-stop. Yeah, it kicked my mind.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Did you see the the the fireworks on the National Mall in DC were delayed? But were they delayed because uh thunderstorms went through. Right. So there was something like 50,000 people already seated for like the big show to start. Yep. With you know, they had musical guests and then uh our president was speaking before the fireworks and all this. And they had to delay all that, and they had to kick all the people out of the area and told them to go into museums into safety because of the thunderstorms, and then finally around nine o'clock, told them they could come back out. And the
DC Fireworks Delay And Music Choices
SPEAKER_02fireworks were supposed to start at 10:30 originally, and the show was supposed to start like at seven, I think, or something like that. Seven or eight o'clock. Um one of the performers at it, which you know, again, we don't get political. I'm not getting political. One of the performers that was scheduled to perform is somebody that Dave and I have both, I think, seen live before. Really? Maybe, maybe I don't know. Yeah, I think, yeah, I'm sure you have. And it was Sammy Hagar. Oh my goodness. So and he was doing right now was the song that he was gonna do. Okay. And I saw the sound check of him, you know, the day before doing it, because he I I follow him on Instagram. Okay, he was posting. And when the delay, and he even said in his Instagram, he goes, Look, people, I'm here to celebrate America's 250th. He goes, Right, I don't care who the president is. Yeah, he goes, This is not political for me, this is a mile, a huge milestone, and like, you know, yeah, like 250 years, I'm here to celebrate America.
SPEAKER_03Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So when the delay happened, he was the first person that got cut.
SPEAKER_05Oh, because that's what he said. Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_02That's funny. Dead serious. Then he he posts, he goes, uh, sorry with the weather delay. They had to make some changes, and uh, I won't be performing tomorrow. I got cut. That's lovely.
SPEAKER_05That's lovely.
SPEAKER_00Well, I don't know who they left in there, but and and no offense, really no offense. The whole musical segment to go with the fireworks. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02The little acting. With the Navy band performing, don't stop bleeping. The fireworks? Yeah, you didn't see any of that? Oh my god. It was all it was all like they started with like Chicago's 25 or 624. Why would they do that?
SPEAKER_05It was just it was like they were shouldn't they have done all the patriotic ones? The Marine Corps.
SPEAKER_02You would think, but it was the Navy band performing with party in the USA. Yeah, and they had the the singers were people that are in the military band who actually can sing really well, but yeah, they had them on the first day, too, the first day of the fair.
SPEAKER_00But it's just that it just was kind of like pitch perfect, like it was kind of like exactly.
SPEAKER_02It was like karaoke live, white patriotic songs.
SPEAKER_05Right. But not even songs. Yeah, yeah, they were just seven songs. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was uh that it had to be Trump's playlist. Maybe, but that's it had to be his favorite songs.
SPEAKER_05That still had to get approved. That's the only thing because they're gonna get it.
SPEAKER_00They did put YMCA in there.
SPEAKER_02Of course they didn't have the gay pride theme song, and he's dancing to it, the YMCA, which was interesting. It's been reclaimed. So and then I did watch, I did watch his speech. Or I watched about half of it. Okay. Yeah. And I do have to say, I'm I try to stay neutral in my political stuff. Right. But I had to go upstairs after watching him speak, and I said to my wife, who is not a Trump supporter, right? Yeah, I had to say to her, why do you not watch him speak? Because he is fucking hysterical. Yes. The the absolute cluelessness and just the him talking about the flags, and that flag's from 1776. Well, check out this over here. It was just like, oh my god, this guy is like hysterical to listen to. Like, why wouldn't it be? Why would you not want to listen to it?
SPEAKER_00You know what happens, and what makes it so funny is that he goes on these tangents.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00In his brain, it makes sense. But it doesn't mean nobody else does.
SPEAKER_05Well, he's hearing himself speak, right? He's just hearing himself talk.
SPEAKER_00But he'll like slide back into the topic at hand.
SPEAKER_02So he was talking about something, and then just he started, he was like, and this flag, and I'm like, what the right, and then he'll go and here's the Artemis III crew, you know, and then over here's some people that did something over here, and they're checking that flag.
SPEAKER_00There's no explanation at all about all over the blessed. I did think the flags were amazing. I would have liked a little, you know, maybe just like a heads up. There were flags we should keep at. Yeah, but all of a sudden, all of a sudden he's like talking about Annie Oakley. Right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, now we're gonna bring up the last survivor from Pearl Harbor. I guess I did pull him out in a wheelchair. I guess I did miss a little bit. Oh my god, it was it like seriously, Dave. I was like, I went on to blow my wife. Like, how do you not watch this guy? Because he is so fucking funny.
SPEAKER_05Well, we're lucked out. We have fireworks blast off in our backyard, basically. Oh, that's right.
SPEAKER_02You can see him from your back deck.
SPEAKER_05From the party. Yeah, so you don't know. So I was showing him showing off.
SPEAKER_00From from where? Idle E?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Idle E's right there. Oh, Franklin, sorry. Idle E's in Leesburg. I'm Franklin, which is in our backyard basically. And and they've always been there, except the trees have grown. So we only get a partial sometimes. And it's gotten worse just over the years. But we've had a tree die recently in between that, which opened up a nice little passel. We did get some pain too. Yes. So that was pretty good. We got to see that. But uh my dogs, my dogs hate my my wife.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, Reese. Yeah, my dog, she's she shakes like a leaf. Oh, yeah. The fireworks start going off. Was she the only one? Yeah, the other two were okay. And but she just like right up in your lap. I'm holding her, trying to soothe her, and she's just shaking like a leaf. There's nothing you can do.
SPEAKER_05We got some of those calming things from the Costco and uh and gave him some, and that actually worked pretty well because he was just kind of laying there, kind of high, high on life. Um but then the weird thing was is on the third, we had to give him some
Dogs, Thunderstorms, And Calming Treats
SPEAKER_05of those too because of the um uh the storms, the thunderstorms that went through. So he doesn't do thunderstorms either. So the thunderstorms came up through the third and then into the fourth, and then we also were the fireworks. So by the fifth, he was crashing. I mean, he had to go cold turkey without any calming uh drugs. So uh he was like, What the hell, mom? Come on, I need my fix. Just a little to carry me over. Just something, just something to get me to Thursday. I'll pay you Wednesday for a hamburger today. That's so funny.
SPEAKER_02He just uh yeah, he had a sub thing. Well, I got oh hold on. I got one more, I got one more thing.
SPEAKER_05Okay, go ahead.
SPEAKER_02Okay, maybe you guys can enlighten me and fill me in on this because I just heard about this today. Uh-oh. So, what is going on with the the explosive diarrhea spreading across America? The virus we got to be. The virus last week.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that was his airplane uh incident.
SPEAKER_00That was the what I was talking about. All right, 101 or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, G-L-P-G-L-Y-O. Well, I saw the full name of it. It was like some walls. Yeah, it's a weird ass.
SPEAKER_00So, but yeah, it's I told him, I'm like, I think you I think
The Explosive Diarrhea Mystery
SPEAKER_00this is what you have. You might have. And he's like, no, no.
SPEAKER_02His diarrhea wasn't explosive, it was just regular He didn't have the other symptoms, which went a whole week.
SPEAKER_05Supposedly it's a week or oh my god, it was like five days.
SPEAKER_00I yeah, it was bad. Yeah, and he was by himself, which is it should have been. Of course.
SPEAKER_05That's how that's how you gotta get through it. Right. Now, I thought I know that we missed something. There was an event that occurred, and we have not been talking about it on the third. July 3rd? July 3rd. Okay, enlighten me. I've there was a large thing that happened at Madison Square Garden. Oh, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know, we just don't have that many details.
SPEAKER_05That we don't. They did not go over. Adam Samler officiated. They handed a bunch of uh bags out.
SPEAKER_02And did you see the article on The Onion yesterday? No. That's how she she's taking the wedding on tour, so all of her fans can't just keep doing the wedding over and over again. They're just gonna keep doing the wedding over and over again.
SPEAKER_05As a show, it'd be very Taylor
Taylor Swift Wedding Rumor Mill
SPEAKER_05Swift wedding for those who are listening that don't know what the hell we're talking about.
SPEAKER_02And he signed without even a blink of an eye, he signed the two million, two billion dollar prenum. Yeah, Jesus. Well, he's worth him himself. He's worth 80 million from just his NFL contract. He doesn't need her money. Well, why would you need money at this point, right? I mean So well, that's and that's why he said he said he goes, this wasn't about trust, this was a a business, you know. Right. Like this is to protect her. And he goes, No, but he goes, that's why I had no problem signing it. He goes, this wasn't about trust between you know each other. It was uh, you know, yeah, when you're dealing with uh billions of dollars, it's it's a financial agreement. Right exactly.
SPEAKER_00He's such a good guy. He's such a good guy. When we get the official details, yeah, then we'll have a whole report. I'm sure we'll have a whole report because right now, like little drips and drabs are coming out, and no one knows.
SPEAKER_05No pictures, no video released, no nothing else. Like I said, it'll be on Disney Plus in August. That's true.
SPEAKER_02Four part special four-part special, the wedding, the building up to the day of the city.
SPEAKER_00It'll be the engagement, the wedding dress shopping, the plan.
SPEAKER_02It'll be exactly well and then and Travis has to start training camp in like two weeks, right?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, to get going on this, right?
SPEAKER_02So Joanne called that like last fall, I think. She made she made the you made the comment about how like you know, yeah, the if it was gonna happen before training camp, it would happen in July, like yeah, early July. Good call.
SPEAKER_00Her her favorite holiday is fourth of July.
SPEAKER_02Oh god.
SPEAKER_00So it's kind that could have gone either way, right? It could be like, I don't want to have my wedding on my favorite holiday, or of course I want to have more things to celebrate.
SPEAKER_05Well, it puts her in New York on the fourth. So she's got to see the fireworks.
SPEAKER_00No, they they went to her house in Rhode Island. That's where she always has Fourth of July. Oh, that's nice. Yeah, yeah. So that tradition continued.
SPEAKER_05And that wasn't the only event, right? Okay, what else? This week, wasn't there an announcement that something's coming? That I get to Can you stop being vague and just spit it out?
SPEAKER_02And we're and oh oh yeah, the the new Big Brother season's coming. Jesus God, you count it down. Eleven more days till Big Brother. Ten more days till Big Brother. Well, the funny thing is to Big Brother.
SPEAKER_05You weren't you were getting those from the CBS channel too, so the They were toting their little countdown. Oh, yeah. Right. It was pictures of her in the in the house.
SPEAKER_00The the biggest deal of the summer.
Big Brother Countdown And House Talk
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. I don't know. Dave, I don't know how you cannot be in on this.
SPEAKER_02Seriously. Because like right now, the weeks, because there's no hockey, basketball's done, not that we care. There's yeah, there was their baseball's about to go into its all-star break, and there's World Cup on, but normally this time of year, that's only over four years. So like normal, you know, this is like a dead you know, this like three weeks in late Jul June to early July is always dead until Big Brother starts for me. And then finally, like, okay, that'll push me through to October.
SPEAKER_00I need this because I'm not watching Love Island, and usually that would help.
SPEAKER_02Oh, is it?
SPEAKER_00You know, but then there's that overlap where it's like six days of Love Island and four days of Big Brother, and then that's ten days, and there's only seven days in the week, and it's too much. Yeah. But I'm not doing Love Island, so I I really needed this big brother. And I have a lot of things to say.
SPEAKER_02Gotcha. About Big Brother. Already. Okay. So Angela is in.
SPEAKER_00I saw that.
SPEAKER_02That was confirmed today unofficially that Angela's in the house. Also, what's it? What did I say his name was? Nick Devons, Rick Devons. He was from Survivor. I haven't I haven't watched Survivor since like season eight, and they're on like season 50 or something.
SPEAKER_00So I'm not sure who he is. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And supposedly one other Survivor who's a girl who won it is supposed to be coming in.
SPEAKER_00Oh, really? The one who won 50 Survivor 50.
SPEAKER_02I have no idea. I don't, I didn't recognize the name and I don't remember what her name was.
SPEAKER_05But the it's a good one.
SPEAKER_02But they'll announce that on a Friday night during Unlocked.
SPEAKER_0526 to 33 year olds. Like no one's no one's representing the boomers.
SPEAKER_02Angel is 50 something.
SPEAKER_05Okay, but that was an add-on, right? She's not in the cast. Right. So that doesn't be a guest. She'll be a guest, but I think she's just thrown in there to be a wrench.
SPEAKER_00No, no, there's a 58-year-old lady. And her name is. Not from that list you sent us. That I don't know where that came from. That's not the cast list. That was on some that was wrong. Her name is something, but she's her.
SPEAKER_05Because all these people are very pretty. Like they all seem very young. Very pretty from 26 to 33.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like, what the heck? I gotta find you the real one so you can study up. Okay. Oh yes, please. Did you watch the Julie Chen thing this morning?
SPEAKER_02The special on YouTube?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The reveal? No, I did not get to get because I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I need you to watch it. And then I need you to tell me what you think about the house.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they show the house. Oh, well, I've seen the house already. Oh. So I've seen the yeah, the when Julie goes through the house room by room and does that. I've saw that.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you saw that? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And you're not going to be able to do that. And the time travel. No, I don't. No, whatever.
SPEAKER_02The house doesn't have.
SPEAKER_00It's all history. Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, it's turning, but I'm sure there's going to be pop culture stuff in there too, and like all kinds of. Yeah. What do you mean history?
SPEAKER_05Wait, I'm lost. Like history of Big Brother?
SPEAKER_00It's like a the season's like a time capsule thing. It's time something. Something's happening.
SPEAKER_02Go back in time or step back in time forward in time and blah blah blah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it's great for our podcast.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yes, great.
SPEAKER_00It ties right in there.
SPEAKER_05Yes, we should try to pair the the years up.
SPEAKER_00But I was I was laughing because Julie Chen doing her house tour. I was like, and look, here's something from the 14th century China. Oh, geez. Here's something. And I'm like, this is amazing. I'm like, Perm's gonna hate it.
SPEAKER_02Well, when she when she talked about she talked about the vases, she's like, oh, they're from the Ming dynasty or from that that that shop down on Wilshire and Mosley. And like the cat, the people, the studio people are laughing, the camera crew. Right.
SPEAKER_00She was actually really funny.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You don't we don't get to see her let loose a little bit.
SPEAKER_02Just not be the chin bot. Right, right. Always reporting. Oh, Dave, what else did you have? Did you have anything else? I had corrections. Oh, let's do corrections real quick and then we'll get into our.
SPEAKER_05We mentioned that um someone else could have played Rocky. Yes. Well, United Artists who released the movie actually wanted someone else other than Sylvester Stallone. Right. Um the list was Ryan O'Neill, Burt Reynolds, James Kahn, and I believe someone did mention Robert Redford. So that was on the list, and they yeah, they wanted him to play.
SPEAKER_02Um The Pretty Boys. That would have given James Kahn a uh a trilogy. Right, right. Which he never accomplished. No.
Corrections And Random Fact Checks
SPEAKER_02He was he said he was hoping that when they did Elf that that would happen, but then the Will Farrell and John Favreau, the director, hated each other so much they're like, they would never do it again. Because John Favreau wrote it, and Will Farrell had signed in his contract that he would do option films continued in the series, but it would have to be on his like script approval. And so it was like there was no way elf two was ever gonna get made or an elf three, and James Conn never because he was only in one of the Godfather movies. Right, he he never had a franchise, and he said he had always wanted to be in a franchise of films, and he never got that because now he's passed away. And yeah, and the whole he was said he was really hoping with Elf that that would be a franchise, but Tavro and uh Will Farrell hated each other so much. Wow.
SPEAKER_05Um, so we mentioned finding that there was a finding of a skeleton inside of one of the um there were actually originally skeletons in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride for uh 1967 when they released actual human skeletons because they got them from UCLA because they were cheaper than the plastic versions. Than the plat, yeah. And also more realistic. So of course they were realistic. Um the chocolate-covered graham crackers that we mentioned that were kind of like the Tim Tams, they were called they were the Keybler Deluxe grams. Yes, yeah, those were so good. I like those. So they didn't have the cream in them, they were just the graham cracker with chocolate on top.
SPEAKER_02My correction is I kept calling them Tam Tams during the podcast. Tam during the podcast. Yeah, Tim Tam. They're Tam Tams.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. And um, and then I also had uh Lisa wanted me to let you know that she did send me with a joke um to talk about uh associated with the Tim Tams, that um the Tim Tams were actually made by uh Aboriginal elves in eucalyptus trees in Australia. There you go. Because the Keepler elves make it. Right. That's fine.
SPEAKER_02Um yeah, there you go. All right, cool. All right, are we ready to jump into 2020-2020? Yes. Oh, okay, cool. Thanks. Um, I have sports. Yeah, sports of the 2020. This one were all trapped at every time. 2020, COVID happened, what, March 15th, ish, 17th, something like that is when it happened. Uh but in um the NBA, they had already they called it early because one of the players had tested positive for COVID and they immediately suspended their season. Um the
2020 Sports And The COVID Shutdown
SPEAKER_02but luckily the Kansas City Chiefs defeated San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl in February, just before COVID started.
SPEAKER_04Before everything closed up.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Before that happened. Uh in Major League Baseball, they shortened their season to set to 60 games. It was normally what, 152 or 82 or something like that. Crazy. Baseball.
SPEAKER_05Oh, baseball is 160, I think.
SPEAKER_02I thought it was like 152 or 162. It's not it's like a two something at the end. Anyway, but they they shortened season to 60.
SPEAKER_05Joanne is it is that 162?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Joanne.
SPEAKER_05Joanne is at 162. Did we lose her? I thought I could have sworn we lost her, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, sorry. Oh, there we are.
SPEAKER_05168.
SPEAKER_02168. There it is.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what it is.
SPEAKER_02In the NHL, they had a similar situation where they had to go into a bubble. So they had games in Toronto and Edmonton in a bubble, and they had all the players isolated and like these little villages and hotels that were, you know, and sequestered and all this stuff like that. And the Tampa Bay Lightning went on to beat the Dallas Stars to win the Stanley Cup. And then the next season, when fans were back allowed at games, then Tampa Bay won it again back to back, which I was actually happy about because their fans didn't get to celebrate with them. When they wanted to pull up for the exactly, yeah, no parade, nothing. It was like they watched it. Everybody watched it on TV, there was nobody in the stand.
SPEAKER_00That was so sad watching those sports games. No one there was a lot of things.
SPEAKER_05Well, they would have the cutouts in the they would be able to get the baseball did that. They would do the cutout, right? Yeah, you could take your picture and they would print out a face picture everything up into the stand.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yeah. Which okay, but that's how you know that's what I always thought the post-apocalyptic kind of sports would be is our faces on little screens and we would be watching from the screen. Or at least that's how I would. Yeah, right. As a, you know, any kind of the future, you know, kind of thing.
SPEAKER_02Well, have you seen at the World Cup, like when there's celebrities or people that are supposed to, you know, be people sitting there, they have like a little screen that sits on their headrest with their name on it.
SPEAKER_05Oh, really?
SPEAKER_02So Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam was at the game with his daughter yesterday at one of the games, and he had this little you know thing that's above his headrest that says Mr. Vedder.
SPEAKER_03And that was his Z.
SPEAKER_02And it was just like, okay. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_00Now, isn't that a waste of money? I don't think so. Why don't you just have a little piece of paper?
SPEAKER_05Someone who put a piece of paper on it take it off.
SPEAKER_02But it looked like a little like you know, iPad mini or something like that with a name on it. And did he get to menu? I don't know. What is he? He's got this money. He doesn't need it. Give it to us.
SPEAKER_03That's right.
SPEAKER_02That's funny.
SPEAKER_03Why is he there?
SPEAKER_05Take your iPads with you. Yes, yes. Souvenir under your seat. There's a car.
SPEAKER_02Uh Wimbledon was canceled that year because of COVID. Yes. So it was the first time since World War II that they hadn't played. Yeah. And they rescheduled the French Open, which Nadal uh Raphael Nadal won. Because he's just like kills it at everything. Right. Uh I don't know. What other stuff happened? Oh, and then of course the big tragedy that happened right before COVID.
SPEAKER_00Kobe.
SPEAKER_02Kobe Bryant dying in the helicopter accident. That was right there. Even though the helicopter pilot told him these wins are not good and I've I don't feel comfortable doing this. And he was like, well, let's go anyway. I was like, all right, well, you died. That's unfortunate.
SPEAKER_00So sad. And his daughter, I was just oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it's going to her basketball game.
SPEAKER_00Basketball. Oh wow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I I couldn't get over that. And I'm I'm not a sports fan, as you may know.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00But it was something about just hearing that news, and I was like, this is a joke. And then it wasn't a joke.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right. And then COVID happened a week and a half later. Yeah. It was or not even maybe like two weeks later. And it was just like, okay, we'll we've all got bigger problems.
SPEAKER_00At least Kobe didn't have to live through COVID.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. So all right. So what are your current events, Joanne?
SPEAKER_00Um for 2020. Is it COVID? There was a pandemic. What was it? It was called COVID-19. Really? Yay. Yeah, so that was basically the entire year. Started in March. Still going. People are still getting it today. Yes, they are. There you go.
SPEAKER_02That they are.
SPEAKER_00But there were a lot of um medical milestones. Like that vaccine came out really quickly, whether good or
2020 News That Shaped Everything
SPEAKER_00bad, who knows?
SPEAKER_02But I've taken it. I've done my vaccines. Yep.
SPEAKER_00So you know, gas hit like negative ten dollars a barrel or something.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it crashed.
SPEAKER_00So our gas was cheap because guess what? We weren't driving anywhere.
SPEAKER_03We couldn't.
SPEAKER_00We weren't allowed to. And during all of this, we had a presidential election, and that was a shit show. So that's true. The whole year was a disaster.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_00Um, we had Black Lives Matter. There was a whole uh what do they call it? Um Summer of Love. There's a lot going on. A lot going on. And when you think about it, like with social distancing, we still had these huge big protests going on.
SPEAKER_05So it was kind of it was a very interesting being outside.
SPEAKER_00We also had Bright Set, which was when the UK withdrew from the EU, which uh was very controversial. I think it was a good idea, but a lot of people don't think it was a good idea. Still TBD on whether that's figuring that out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Still figuring that out. But because you know, my child has dual citizenship. I had been telling her, keep your passport up. You can get an EU passport, you can travel anywhere. Then they Brexited.
SPEAKER_05Now they can't.
SPEAKER_00Um SpaceX put astronauts into space.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, other than NASA. Yeah, it was the first one.
SPEAKER_00Yep. And um we don't have dead and gone, but we we lost Kobe, uh, Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, and and a whole bunch of other people.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, unfortunately. Because of the COVID.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but other other than that, I mean nothing really happened. Oh, there were there were the bad fires in Australia. Do you guys remember that?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I do. I do.
SPEAKER_00That was really sad with all the koalas who got displaced.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That was sad. I didn't like that.
SPEAKER_02That was sad. Yeah, the dumpster fire of the year 2020. Yeah, it was crazy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Harry and Megan left the royal family.
SPEAKER_02Hey, that's in my celebrities.
SPEAKER_00That's not in the advance. There just was nothing else going on.
SPEAKER_05That's true. That's true.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, there you go. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Well, everything was closing down. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Google was did Google change to alphabet that year? I can't remember. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I don't either.
SPEAKER_00All right, Dave, what do you got for food?
SPEAKER_05Alphabet. Do you have alphabet soup for food? Oh, I wish. Um, no, it seems like uh the pandemic kept us inside and we went uh investigative and decided to uh make our own crap, which included giant uh doses of sourdough. Seems like that was a big thing. Um and this TikTok trends uh created 15 second snippets of cooking. Um, I'm just gonna rattle off a whole handful. You let me know if you did any of these. Um I know I didn't do any of them. Um, I hadn't, I never got on the TikTok,
Lockdown Food Trends And TikTok Snacks
SPEAKER_05and um I I just never attached to that as socially. Uh, but um pancake cereal. Basically, this was what you would think little mini pancakes in a bowl with cereal or with milk on top. Okay. Now, these were actually pancakes. They wasn't like, you know, pancake cereal like made in a store. They actually made the pancakes, little baby mini pancakes. And then just put them in a bowl of milk and just ate them like regular cereal. I did not do that. No, I would think that would be just a sloppy mess. I don't think they would hold anything. Um, and in that vein, they also did the same thing with mini donuts. Okay. Now that's that's not surprising. Right, right, right. Um, fluffy whipped coffee. It seems like they took vaguely recall this. Blenders to these uh coffees to uh foam them up into a big fluff. Gotcha. Banana bread along with sourdough was a big thing. Now, I don't know how they got a lot of these ingredients. I could understand having flour in your in your cupboard and being able to do the sourdough and everything, but how they would had to have gotten out and got bananas.
SPEAKER_00Well, you had to get your groceries.
SPEAKER_05I understand that. And a lot of the delivery places were doing that, but still, with everything being closed up, stuff still wasn't getting delivered either. And I would think we were getting deliveries line. Really?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we were getting delivered.
SPEAKER_00I went to the grocery store like once a week.
SPEAKER_05Oh risked it, huh? Um, slow cooked barbecue, because of course we had plenty of time to sit and stare at meat cooking. Um there was the oh, this was a a thing, I guess, where um you would have Chef Ramsey berate horrible questionable recipes. And I guess there were clips from his his show where he would like you would have them spliced into the video.
SPEAKER_03Oh it was weird. It was a weird little thing.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I guess so. Um giant ice cream cakes were a thing. And again, I don't know how you got everything to make this. I still don't, I just don't know.
SPEAKER_00Dave, how did you eat during this?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, how did you survive? Like we ate one of the dogs, and that's why we know we have to do it.
SPEAKER_00Um I was at Walmart like every week. I had to get out of the house. I I was I took my life in my hands.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know what we did. Oh well, I did go to the Costco and we wore the mask, which was always fun. So yeah, we did Costco. So I guess, yeah, we went out. Um making chocolate from scratch. Now, I don't see how in the hell again, getting the ingredients to make chocolate means you have to get cocoa beans in in raw form.
SPEAKER_00Amazon.
SPEAKER_05You can do that on Amazon? No. Sure, yeah. Holy crap. Oh, and you can do all your grocery shopping ones. And again, I guess because we were trapped, uh, adult milkshakes. Um, I could see this big I did those. Yes, you did all those? I did them on the grasshopper. Now there's a taste test for you. Oh, the grasshopper milkshake is so good. Yeah, video that. That would be perfect. Um, so yeah, and there we go. And that was a lot of basically uh being trapped and cooking. Yep. Yep. Like I said before, we just sat on our front porch. Yeah. Well, yeah, but you didn't have anything to do so you could work out. Sounds like just work that all off. Yeah. Perfect.
SPEAKER_02All right. My next category is celebrities. Celebrities. Celebrities. And so the high are you you want to guess who the highest paid celebrity was of 2020? Of 2020. 2020.
SPEAKER_05John Krasinski.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05Oh, good call. That was a good guess, though. Um Thank you. Good lord. Uh I I don't even have a guess.
SPEAKER_02Kylie Jenner.
SPEAKER_00Really? Oh, okay. Because of her.
SPEAKER_02She dominated social media. Yep. And so Kylie Jenner was the highest paid celebrity of 2020. Also,
Celebrities, Money, And Delayed Movies
SPEAKER_02Billie Eilish had a huge year. She won four or five Grammys at the Grammys. She was 18 years old at the time. Wow. Yep. Uh Tom Holland, Peter Pascal, and Chris Evans were wildly popular because of like all the Avengers movies and all that crap. Um Mr. Beast had a huge growth spurt during COVID of people following him.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, we had nothing to do, so we were going to have a lot of people. Right. So everybody's watching YouTube videos and watching Mr. Beast videos. Yeah, we were all catching up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, exactly. Um then yeah, Joanne had mentioned that uh Harry and Megan had separated from the British family. Megan? Is that who it is? Megan? Markle. Yeah, yeah. Somebody like that? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Meghan Markle.
SPEAKER_02Right. Uh God, there was a bunch of other stuff, and now I can't find any of the stuff on my list. Those were the big ones. Oh, and uh Bingy Madden and uh Camera Diaz had their baby.
SPEAKER_05Oh, okay. Yeah. What was the name? What was it? Oh, did they?
SPEAKER_02Uh Riker or something. And it's a girl or something like that. Fans of Star Trek The Next Generation. Is that right? Was that is it Riker? Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um I think it's Riker, yeah. So that was about it for celebrities.
SPEAKER_02Wow. There wasn't because there was it's so hard. Well, yes, there was no. Nothing really exploded yet. Because yeah, Top Gun Maverick was supposed to come out and then it got delished. They were delaying all the release dates, and then like was it Wonder Woman 84 or whatever? That one got pushed. They were like, We're we're not gonna do that on streaming first. We're gonna we it it was meant to be seen on a big screen and blah, blah, and they finally like broke down and put it on HBO Max and it sucked.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and Black Widow had went through the same scenario.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So a lot of movies that were pushed back and all that. Yeah. All right, Joan, what music were we listening to while we were locked in our houses?
SPEAKER_00Well, pretty much everyone. But let me tell you why music was so important to me during this pandemic. I didn't fully understand the magnitude of the pandemic on April the fifth or March the 15th. I didn't know what this lockdown was gonna be until I saw the dropkick Murphys playing in an empty Irish
Music That Made Lockdown Bearable
SPEAKER_00pub on March the 17th.
SPEAKER_03Wow.
SPEAKER_00And the tears falling from my eyes that St. Patrick's Day had been canceled, and it all hit me at that moment.
SPEAKER_03Oh wow, okay.
SPEAKER_00Thanks to the dropkick Murphy's.
SPEAKER_03Wow, gotcha.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, so music music played a whole thing. Wow. Um I watched every musician I could find who was doing these little live streams from their house.
SPEAKER_02Katy Perry did one.
SPEAKER_00Katie Perry. My favorite Maroon 5. Um My Favorite Train.
SPEAKER_02Who's the guy with Trettes that has Trettes? The British singer guy?
SPEAKER_00Oh, Ed I Louis Gapaldi.
SPEAKER_02Louis Capaldi did one, yes. I watched that on my uh my little VR headset thing. I saw him and he was doing it from his parents' basement because he was locked in with his parents for COVID. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_00So it was such a good time for music, even though it was so bad. Because people really had to get creative, right? They had to find new ways to record. You know, people weren't in the same country and they still had albums they had to put out. And it was it was just really cool to be sitting there and they've got like Pat Monahan in his attic talking about his music, playing his guitar. It was really, really neat. So I did a lot of that. But and of course, this was because you know because they shut all the concerts down. No one could do anything. Um but there were people who you know came up and did great things. Taylor had folklore. Um Dua Lipa, Doja Cat.
SPEAKER_02Yep, Doja Cat broke. Yep.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, ACDC came back to life.
SPEAKER_02Who? Never heard of who's not. Who is that?
SPEAKER_00Um but we lost Eddie Van Halen, oh yeah, Neil Pert.
SPEAKER_02And Eddie was to cancer, not to COVID, right?
SPEAKER_00Right, right, right. I did any musicians die because of COVID?
SPEAKER_02Yes. Uh John Prine died. And Adam Schleisinger, who's the he was the guy who wrote uh most of the songs for Fountains of Wayne, like Stacy's Mom and all those songs. Yeah, he he died from COVID. He was one of the first, like it was like just a couple weeks in. And he he he lives in New York and he caught it and died from it. Wow. So sad, sad. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um posty came out with circles that year. That was a great song. Blinding Lights by the Weekend.
SPEAKER_02Right, which topped the charts.
SPEAKER_00I remember that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It became and Dave, you you you witness you were watching the TV with me when this came on, right? On that show, that game show? No. Anyway, when Dave when I'm waiting for Dave to come over, I have Game Show Network on. Yeah, yeah. And there's a show called The Chase. The Chase, and one of that one of the questions came up of this uh Chubby Checker's The Twist was the number one billboard single ever of all time until the weekend's blinding lights hit and took over that position.
SPEAKER_00What the heck is that song? I can't place it at all.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_00I can't I can't place it.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, I can totally I can see him doing it at the Super Bowl. I can't. I see it in my head.
SPEAKER_03I don't even know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_02I'm swearing you'd hear like one bar, you'd be like, oh right.
SPEAKER_00Oh sure, I'll listen to it later.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01I doubt I would.
SPEAKER_00And then of course TikTok was the the optimum music channel, dancing, everything. Yeah. TikTok.
SPEAKER_05The TikToks. I never remember the late night guys, Colbert and uh Seth Myers doing their shows from their attic.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. That was cool. Or or our local weather, like topper shut, doing the weather forecast from his den and his house. That was so good. Like they they sent a camera crew out and he set it up himself and like he would like cut in with his own, yeah, and he was doing it by himself, doing the weather. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I loved watching Chris Harrison from The Bachelor do because they were doing like a look back. Obviously, they couldn't do The Bachelor, so they did like a you know top episodes or whatever, and he set it up in his house and his son was his cameraman. Oh those things are so cute.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, hey, we had to do what they had to do.
SPEAKER_02So sidebar real quick, is was that true what I what I sent you that link, Joanne, about the the bachelorette airing that the canceled season or whatever?
SPEAKER_00But she has she had to go to rehab or whatever, not rehab, some kind of facility again because her ex who leaked all the stuff the first time it was gonna come out, right? Oh right after that news came out and sent her into a spiral. So who knows if it'll ever get released.
SPEAKER_02Okay, yeah. But yeah, that's a good one. I was never a bachelor bachelorette fan. So I've never watched, yeah.
SPEAKER_00She's a mess. I give you this rose.
SPEAKER_02That's all I know.
SPEAKER_00There's a there's a book that's coming out tomorrow or Thursday that's uh this producer woman who evidently had an affair with one of our most favorite bachelors while he was the bachelor.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow, scandalous show.
SPEAKER_00It's a huge scandal in Bachelor Nation, right? Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_05Bachelor. Of course it is Bachelor. That's amazing that it has a name.
SPEAKER_02Oh did you have any other music stuff, Joanne?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, cool. So Dave's got Dave's got murder mystery, which he said is more mystery than murder.
SPEAKER_05I swear to Christ, I don't know what happened in 2020 because I was looking up murders and mysteries because I wanted to be like, oh, okay, cool. This is kind of weird, you know, a little murder mystery scenario. But all the murders were like like babies. I was like terrified of this. So let's end on a download. Yeah, babies. We're doing the next one. We're gonna switch and just do mysteries this time around.
SPEAKER_00It's surprised it wasn't spousal
2020 Mysteries From Monoliths To Seeds
SPEAKER_00murders after being cooped up together. Right.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that would almost have been beaten with a sourdough. Um, yeah. Um beat him to death with his own shoes. With his own shoe. Um, so the one uh we had was a uh global monoliths. Now, I don't remember any of these, and I don't know where I was.
SPEAKER_00I remember these.
SPEAKER_05Supposedly what happened is these things started appearing first in Utah in Red Uh Rock Canyon. A wildlife biologist uh stumbled upon a 9.5 foot tall shiny metal pillar anchored inside of the sandstone there. Now, they didn't know how it got there, no one saw anyone put it there. There's no evidence of it, just it just appeared technically, right? So um there was no signs of it. And then the next night it was gone. Now, this was not the only place that these appeared. It seems like they also appeared in Romania and all the way to California and into the Isle of Wight, like all over the place, in between all these locations. And it's like, oh what the heck happened? Well, it turns out that the initial one was actually an artist.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_05Um, and he was uh a Utah artist who uh had uh claimed that that he put it out there, but that was after the fact, like way after the fact that he came came clean on it. Um but the other ones, they have no clue. There's no evidence of how they got there or anything like that. It's just this individual one when it appeared.
SPEAKER_00The aliens were like, The aliens were like, well, wait a minute, don't steal our thing.
SPEAKER_05Um yeah, stop stealing our thing, man. Um, so we're gonna we're gonna go ahead and put these out there. And then uh yeah, he decided that uh it was him, unless he was an alien too, and he was an artist.
SPEAKER_00That was so weird. I was like, great, just let the aliens come now.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I have it would be perfect, right? Take us all. Take us. You might as well, because uh yeah, we're we can't do it ourselves. Um the next was a uh flashing radio signal. Now, what happened was um the Australian, they used an Australian Pathfinder radio telescope. It detected a signal that was coming from the center of the Milky Way. Now, this was basically, they were baffled at first, but it seemed like the mystery was actually a white dwarf that was draining the matter from a companion star in a binary system. And what happened is is when they clashed, a magnetic clash caused it to generate a radio signal. I was like, holy crap. And then this was this mystery signal that they had no clue about. And then they finally That's a lot of science. That was a lot, but it seemed like everyone wants to think that it's aliens talking to us. More dead babies. Oh dead babies. Switch to baby. Sorry. Um, and then uh this one, I don't remember this happening, but did you ever go down to your mailbox and get a packet of seeds just appear in your mailbox delivered?
SPEAKER_00No, but I heard about them.
SPEAKER_05Okay, so what happened is across the US and Canada and Ireland of all places, um, they received uh unsolicited seeds randomly in their mail delivery. Like they would just pop up.
SPEAKER_01Um, the little paper packaging like plant in your garden. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Government agencies said do not plant these things because they don't know what they were or what they involved. I guess that was them thinking that, oh yeah, whatever. But um Can you imagine plant that and you get some weed? The article had to be a little bit of a couple of COVID. Right. There we go. But uh the article went on to explain that they wouldn't have been surprised if it was a scheme of the pod people. You would plant your own clone, um, which I thought was kind of funny because that movie totally, totally freaked me out.
SPEAKER_00It was the perfect time for aliens and pod people and anyone else.
SPEAKER_05Anyone we were thinking about. Well, again, a lot of it was also uh we could live in our own head uh with everything because we were we weren't working. I mean, we were working remotely, things like that, but we were in our own free time to do just that and get just kind of crazy with the with conspiracy theories and everything. So yeah, of course, right? There you go.
SPEAKER_00I think I think we've we've blocked out a lot of things that happened in 2020, and I think the further away we get from it, we're gonna start remembering some of that crazy stuff, right? And some of the fun stuff that happened, you know, like everybody would ring their bells or whatever, or flash their lights at a certain time. You do remember all of that?
SPEAKER_05No, no, not at all.
SPEAKER_00No, no, I don't participate in neighborly stuff, so yeah, no, one day it'll come back to you and you'll remember what a bonding experience it was.
SPEAKER_02Maybe on the next time through on 2020 when we'll see that year. Yes.
SPEAKER_00I loved it because we would break the rules, but every weekend we would just pick a new place to drive to. We were living in in California. And so we like went to downtown San Francisco and nobody was there. Yeah, we went to Sacramento, Coast, we went to Carmel. We did, yeah. I mean, we were inside all we never saw anybody, but it was really great. The roads were totally empty. You go like 150, no cops, no nothing.
SPEAKER_02Well, we lucked out. Oh, I do remember that. Yeah, no cops being on the roads because they weren't doing traffic stops.
SPEAKER_05Well, we lucked out because that was the last year we went down to Disney was uh 2019, December.
SPEAKER_00We got there in like six hours.
SPEAKER_05So we got back, no. Well, we got back, and then that was when all the hit the fan. So um, but yeah, then we got lucky because we were ahead of it. Right.
SPEAKER_00I was at I was at home flying back like on the 10th or 11th or something, and I remember sitting there with my mom and she's like, There's all this stuff is happening in China, and you know, I just saw this video of this woman, and she was saying how all these people are dying. I was like, What the heck?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I remember going into work and all of our college students were home for spring break that week of March. Right. And I walked, I remember walking into work, and then you know, one of the employees at the front desk, like on the phone, on his cell phone, talking to like his mom or something, going, No, they cancel classes. We don't have to, we are not going back to school, like explaining it. Like, no, we're staying home. You're telling us all to, you know, lock down.
SPEAKER_05And it was like I remember having to throw out all of my freeze-dried bats.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I thought you were gonna say porn.
SPEAKER_05No, no, my bats. Yeah, I had to throw them all out. They were they were contaminated, too new.
SPEAKER_02One of them could be contaminated. Who knew? Who knew? I didn't know.
SPEAKER_05I had to play it safe. I had to play it safe.
SPEAKER_02All right, do you guys want to do a quick cast list?
SPEAKER_05Oh, yes, that would be perfect.
SPEAKER_02Okay, cast list. I think you're gonna get this one. Oh. And it's not gonna be just that guy. Ah, you're gonna get this one. You're gonna know the name. I think you're gonna get it. I think Joanne might get it by two. Okay. And I think Dave will get it by four. I'm bad. If you don't get it both by five, then I quit. I'm horrible by name. So it's an actor.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Remember the Titans from 2000. Crazy, Stupid Love, 2011.
SPEAKER_00I'm Sandler.
SPEAKER_02Nope. The nice guys.

SPEAKER_02There you go. Ryan Gossling.
Cast List Game And Movie Trivia

SPEAKER_05She liked it. It was pretty good. It was okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It wasn't great and it wasn't terrible. It was just okay.
SPEAKER_00Was it good for this year?
SPEAKER_02Sure.
SPEAKER_01I guess.
SPEAKER_00Because the movies are so crappy.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I mean, come on. Yeah. Is it? Oh, by the way, and I told this to Dave last week. I finally watched uh Passengers with uh Jennifer Lawrence and uh was it Chris Pratt? Yeah, Chris Pratt.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I didn't love it, I didn't hate it. I just thought it was okay. I mean, it was worth the watch. But I was like, okay, just eh. Yeah. Yeah. So I watched it. So but I did watch it.
SPEAKER_05So I thought the project camera was a little disjointed with how he was getting to remember his past because they put him in a coma. So he forgot how he got there. So they in order to get to that, they flashed, kept flashing back. And I thought it was a bit conf, it wasn't confusing, it was just disjointed so much that you didn't really know where we were going with all that. Right. I mean, they could have just gone from the beginning to the end and it would have been fine. We figured that all out. But yeah, yeah, that was a bit of that.
SPEAKER_02All right, let's do some uh Mount Cleverist uh movie trivia real quick, too. Oh, I can't wait. These are the true-false ones. These are all these are just true-false. It's it's you got a 50-50 shot. Yeah, okay. Catwoman is the highest grossing female superhero movie. False.

He completed his degree 33 years after originally dropping out of college from school to make movies. So he submitted Schindler's List as his final. That's lovely. Wow, that's amazing. He had so many to choose from.
SPEAKER_00Right?
SPEAKER_02That's funny.
SPEAKER_00Now, was it an original project for the degree?
SPEAKER_02I don't yeah, I don't know. You'd have to dig deeper on that. I just I have like literally, literally two sentences on my card. Right. I don't have details. Um at the end of the jungle book, the two sick 2016 version, which was the live action one, uh Mowai uh Mowgli is uh living in a palace. False. No, false. False. He's still living in the jungle.
