1983. Okay, can one of you please let me borrow $15,000 so I can sit lower level at a Knicks uh basketball playoff game for a championship game? You need to be low.
SPEAKER_02You can't just be up top.
SPEAKER_06I need the low seeds. It's $15,000. $15,000 for a ticket. Actually, less than I think to game three of an NBA Finals.
SPEAKER_02That's insane.
SPEAKER_00That is watch it at home. Is it cheaper in San Antonio?
SPEAKER_06Probably. More than that. Because New York City, I mean, like, come on. Oh, I when I saw that, I was I was I like threw up in the back of my throat a little bit. I was just like uh $15,000. One of the memes I saw was the text thread between a girl and her guy, and she and she's like, um, $15,000 out of our personal banking account. And then the next text, she says, Oh, is this what I think it is? And then it's a little ring emoji. And then he replies back with no the view from your seats that are $15,000 on Stobuff. The view from your seats.
SPEAKER_02That's good.
SPEAKER_00There was quite the hubbub last night.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was a bit of a fiasco from what I understand. And they were angry they lost. So who knows? Oh, who lost?
SPEAKER_06I don't know. The Knicks lost. Oh, the Knicks lost. Okay. See, I don't even I don't pay attention to it at all. I just saw the the price of the ticket.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. So that that brings up the question. If you were a sick season ticket holder, don't they get uh preferential right to pay? Yeah, would you you would resell it? Would you resell it or would you go?
SPEAKER_06Oh, I would totally resell it. Oh, why not? It could pay for my entire next season.
SPEAKER_02Next season and more, right? Yeah. Yeah, but you're gonna miss the game. Now I I don't think I would throw it. Well, it's only game four. Well, was it game three or game four? It was game three. You're right. It was game three. So no one was gonna take it away, right? So you weren't gonna see the final game, right? Exactly. So there isn't any reason to not sell this. If it's game like five, six, or seven, maybe close, right?
SPEAKER_00Is that what it's gonna do if game five would be the first time someone could win if they didn't have a few.
SPEAKER_02Right, yeah, right. That could be a game clenching. Yeah, could it be tonight? They won't play tonight, it's tomorrow. But um four, okay. Yeah, they could take away. Oh, so they've got a while to go. Yeah, they got at least at least two. Yeah, yeah, because it's uh two and one now.
SPEAKER_00Well, let me tell you, San Antonio is hype right now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, now that they're back in it.
SPEAKER_06So, side note, real quote, quick. I have a wet sock and it is driving me insane. What is happening? I think I might need to go change my socks. Oh, you're gonna change your socks? Oh, because you were outside in the rain. It was. I took the trash and recycling out before we recorded. And yeah, it's raining, and I didn't realize it was raining out. I didn't have my shoes on, so I took one step to reach over to the trash can and then my sock got wet, and now it's just annoying the piss out of me. Yeah. Oh my god, I hate wet socks. Hate it. Hate it. And it's just the one, too. So it's even like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just take off your sock.
SPEAKER_06I might because then I'll have like, but then my foot will get cold, cold like bear cold on the colour. Okay, whatever. So going back to sports real quick. So did you either of you guys watch game three of the Stanley Cup, the NHL? The craziness, I missed it. It was insane. Like it was game over for Carolina. It was four-nothing Vegas Golden Knights at the start of the third period. Yeah. And there's the hurricanes? Yes, the Carolina hurricanes and the Vegas Golden Knights. I have no idea. I have not watched your bracket job. I don't. Um you're out of it.
SPEAKER_07It's okay. Okay. Yeah, no, you're done.
SPEAKER_06Uh they're down four-nothing at the start of the third period. And their first two shifts, they literally, Carolina Hurricanes looked like they were just like calling it in, like, okay, run the clock, let's get to game four and whatever. And then not even a couple minutes later, uh, Mitch Marner, who already had a hat trick in the game, that's three goals, Joanne, uh has a hat trick in the game. There we go. And he goes on a breakaway and he gets stuffed. And that was the momentum shift. Then Carolina comes back and scores three goals in 39 seconds. So now all of a sudden it's a game again. And now it's four to three.
SPEAKER_02And now Carolina's fighting for this last one.
SPEAKER_06Right. And then Carolina ties it up four to four to force it to overtime. It was like a minute and a half or something, right? It was the craziest 10 minutes of hockey, or not even that, probably six or seven minutes of hockey I've I've seen. It was just so just unreal to watch this comeback. And I was really hoping Carolina was going to like pull it off in overtime, but then it's a good thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02True. Yeah. Is it really though? I mean, because if you look at that below the Mason Dixon, I mean, if you think about it.
SPEAKER_06Well, what if it what if it had come down to like Dallas and the Florida Panthers?
SPEAKER_00That's true. My dream teams.

SPEAKER_02Who would you pick?
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness. I have to pick Dallas because that's just ridiculous.
SPEAKER_06But yeah, what if it came down to Dallas in the West and the Florida Panthers in the East and like it's blow like so?
SPEAKER_02Are you affected by the two stadiums changing, moving?
SPEAKER_00Who are you referring to?
SPEAKER_02You. Uh you're uh because one of them's moving to Plano, Texas.
SPEAKER_00I have no idea what you're talking about. I have no idea what's going on.
SPEAKER_02Two of the Dallas teams. Two of the Dallas teams are moving, the Mavericks and um the stars. They're moving their stadiums. Oh. And one of them is moving to Plano, Texas. Which is where Dr.
SPEAKER_00Plano's near Dallas.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Yeah, I think it is actually just outside of Dallas, though. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I think it's like moving to Winchester.
SPEAKER_02Okay. And then the Mavericks are moving to some other stadium.
SPEAKER_00I don't even know what sports those are.
SPEAKER_02Basketball, basketball, hockey, and hockey.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Yeah. Nobody cares. It's just a big thing. Oh my god. Tell us about your toilet, Joanne.
SPEAKER_06What happened with our your toilet in your house?
SPEAKER_00Well, it's not actually the toilet. For everyone keeping uh track of my escapades. Um we have because we have well water, we have to have a filtration system, right?
SPEAKER_07Yes.
SPEAKER_00So we have this filtration system and we have a water softener. Now the water, when it enters the home, goes first through a filter for the water softener.
SPEAKER_07Right.
SPEAKER_00And then it goes through another filter and another filter and a UV light, and then we're allowed to drink it.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00So we knew we had to replace the UV light because there's an alarm on it. So I get the UV light, I get the filters, we replace everything, and then I'm like, what's this other filter? And it was for the water softener. That's supposed to be replaced every two months, and I should see if I have a photo of what that thing looked like after a year. It's probably scary.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00To have some spiders in it and stuff. It's just covered in scorpions. Scorpions and spiders.
SPEAKER_06Just stuck to it.
SPEAKER_00All in there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Just bits and pieces. But oddly enough, they had all been smashed by a boot that looked marked size. How did that happen? Sorry.
SPEAKER_00Oh my God. That's another story. Yeah, I know, exactly. No, there's another, another, another follow-on to that. Um so we take off the filter thing, hit housing, and all of them have an O-ring in it. Well, this O-ring was like too big and wasn't seated in the O-ring spot.

SPEAKER_00So we're like, what the heck? Did the plumbers just over tighten it so it wouldn't leak?
SPEAKER_06Because without the O-ring, was this the same guy that blew up the house next to it? That was the guy. There's only one. Okay. There's only one in the city. I was just checking in. Just checking in. Okay, keep on the one guy.
SPEAKER_00So Mark thinks that what happened was after a year, like the O-ring expanded, and so that when it came out, it just like Okay, they do wear out.
SPEAKER_02And when you do pull them, they do that. That is why.
SPEAKER_00So we're like, oh shoot, we don't have a spare O-ring. No problem. We'll just turn the water off and bypass the water softener.
SPEAKER_06Okay.
SPEAKER_00Well, problem number one, there's no bypassing of the water softener because the plumber did not install that. He installed other bypasses.
SPEAKER_06Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yes. So he's coming out and he'll be coming out to do that. So we had to turn the water off, but that's fine. Turn the water off. We'll go get lunch in the big city and get an O-ring.
SPEAKER_06Right.
SPEAKER_00Perfect.
SPEAKER_06Exactly. Stop by Lowe's or Home Depot. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Yep. Those O-rings did not fit.
SPEAKER_02Of course not. Gotcha.
SPEAKER_00So then we're like, oh shoot, Mark's like, that's fine. I can try three other places in our town. But none of them had O-rings that fed. Wow.
SPEAKER_06So Amazon's.
SPEAKER_00Well he's like, I can't range it. Just make it work. It's like, boil the O-ring and it'll shrink. Put it in the oven for 30 minutes and it'll shrink. Jesus. Plumber's tape and make an O-ring. I mean, he tried everything all day on Sunday. Did not work.
SPEAKER_07Wow.
SPEAKER_00So Amazon two-day delivery because we live in the middle of nowhere.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Yeah, yeah, I get that.
SPEAKER_00Then I call the manufacturer on Monday because, of course, they're closed on Sunday. The plumbers closed on Sunday. Blah blah blah. Yeah. The manufacturers like, oh, yeah, like none of the O-rings you get are gonna work. They're gonna be the wrong size because you can only get them from us.
SPEAKER_02Right. That's uh obsolete, right? Makes them um makes it obsolete when you uh need to go to them. So for twenty dollars. Uh obviously.
SPEAKER_00For twenty dollars plus shipping, I have two O-rings coming from them. Seven to ten business days like that. However, when I talked to the nice man yesterday, he said they're only coming from Fort Worth.
SPEAKER_06Oh. So it should only take a day or two. Yeah, so it's not like you were in Maine or someplace. Correct. Correct. Right, you're in the same state. Right, right.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_02So in the meantime, come on. I mean I know.
SPEAKER_00In the meantime, Amazon arrived just a couple hours ago, and it's not the right size, but it seems to be working, knock on wood.
SPEAKER_01Until, yeah. However, and you have the other ones coming. Good.
SPEAKER_00Right. When you don't have water, you don't have water. Oh, I know.
SPEAKER_06I know. Well, it's like not having a dishwasher. Yeah. Well, I know I've lived through the whole no water thing. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like if a pipe burst or something.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But luckily, the bypass did not shut off the water to the hoses.
SPEAKER_02Outside. So different spigot.
SPEAKER_00Mark could fill up all these water bottles full of water so he could still use the toilets. Well, that's good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's just not treated.
SPEAKER_00It takes one and a half gallons of water.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Just to flush it, not to like wash everything. Right.
SPEAKER_06So if it's if it's brown, you flush it down. If it's yellow, you let it mellow.
SPEAKER_00I've flushed everything. So I must have gone through I don't know how many gallons of water. I started thinking, I'm like, should I pee outside? Well, guess who went out in the rain and peed off the porch? You did? That's crazy.
SPEAKER_02That is crazy. Is it for you?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I was shocked. He goes out there, and my wife's putting out there in the rain.
SPEAKER_02Oh, Mark didn't. Oh, not me.
SPEAKER_00Not me.
SPEAKER_02Well, that'd be a shame.
SPEAKER_00He went out in the middle of a storm and I was at the sink and I looked out. I'm like, what the hell? Yeah, why not? You could see it. And he's laughing. And I'm like, you're facing the streets.
SPEAKER_02Look, you do what you have to do. I'm sorry. I do that all the time. So we need luck. Why go all the way back in the house now? I don't even wait till we don't have water. I've got 20. You know, that's why you're saving water.
SPEAKER_00That's why you have a day. Saving water.
SPEAKER_07Right.
SPEAKER_00But I started thinking, I'm like, we used so much water to flush toilets. It's crazy. Yeah. Yeah. Try it. Try it with six people in your house.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, imagine it.
SPEAKER_00Oh my God.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I'm like, no wonder people are freaking out about water, yes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I get it. Well, they have the low from taking a shower.
SPEAKER_02They have the low pressure, low flow toilets now.
SPEAKER_00They do. But I think it still takes like a gallon.
SPEAKER_02It's a gallon. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And that's and when you're sitting there pouring it into the tank and it's glug glug glug. It you it's it's impactful. It's impactful. So everybody can serve your water.
SPEAKER_06Exactly. Yeah, when our our our well pump went because the pressure tank exploded, we had we had zero water, not even, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Not even that's the worst when you when the well breaks. Yes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and it was well. What happened is the pressure pump exploded, and then the well pump kept going thinking it needed to pump more water into the pressure tank. But there was something. But there was nothing there. So it was basically just spewing water and it finally it burnt the well pump out. Yeah. Because it wasn't stopping because the pressure tank wasn't backing up the pressure properly. Yeah, whole whatever. So I'm gonna solve this.
SPEAKER_02We're just gonna do a litter box. Let's just make a litter box, a big ass litter box in the back yard for everyone.
SPEAKER_00For the dogs, for us. For everybody, the people, the humans clumping litter.
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm sure I was like, why don't you just walk to a tree? And he's like, Well, it's raining. I don't want to get whacked.
SPEAKER_06Exactly. Oh my god, because he's made a sugar, he'll melt.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like, but now Mark is very sweet, so I gotta tell you, he's a he's a sweetheart. We have the guy coming to like put weed barrier down near the house.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And he peed right where the guy's gonna be. And I'm like, Well, you guys are it was raining. It was raining. That's what he said. Wash it away. It'll wash away. Yeah. I'm like, that's not the point. Why isn't it the point? I just don't like pee.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, Dave, do you so do you still you just don't like pee? Put that on a shirt. No, I don't like pee. I just don't like pee. I just don't like pee. I just don't like pee.
SPEAKER_06It's spend dive. I just don't like pee.

SPEAKER_06Okay. So, Dave, did you have any fun stories for the week? I don't.
SPEAKER_02I didn't. I wish I did. Oh wow. I have been the last two, three weeks, I have had nothing. No injuries. And I have been working in the yard. And I've used I've used saws, I've used hammers, rails, shovels. So you've been dangerous. I have been using the danger tools, yes, but I have not had any incidences.
SPEAKER_06Still live in dangers. Maybe you're finally you've hit pro level.
SPEAKER_00Maybe everything we can do.
SPEAKER_02I know that's not true. I still have, okay, so I did not get to the main project that I'm supposed to be getting done through the bathroom. The bathroom.
SPEAKER_06It's been 10 years.
SPEAKER_02So two weeks ago, I was able to get to tear down some of the wall and throw it in the trash. Yeah. So I did that part. I just haven't been able to get back to it because of all the other projects that have been coming.
SPEAKER_06Puppet making.
SPEAKER_02And that too. That too. Oh, I heard some sad news. The gentleman that I use uh the videos to to endeavor to make my patterns and everything, he passed away. Oh yeah, and yes, and I do use them because I've watched it multiple times, not realizing that he had passed away. Yeah. Adam Kruninger.

SPEAKER_03Yeah.

SPEAKER_06So the correction I had was uh Joanne said that Toy Story was coming out last Friday and it doesn't come out until the 19th. The 19th. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06Yes. You no, you you were saying the fifth. It was coming back.
SPEAKER_00No, no, that's when that's when Taylor's song came out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, well, we know that now. Yeah. Yes. But it sounded like it sounded like you were saying you were talking about the movie and you were like, oh, well, it comes out this Friday.
SPEAKER_07I thought this Friday meaning the 12th.
SPEAKER_06Right. Anyway. That's the song. Toy Story will be out on the 19th. Toy Story 5 with Taylor Swift. I can't wait. With her Oscar Award-winning song. Right.
SPEAKER_00She's not in it. But she will win an Oscar. Um y'all know the World Cup is starting this week.
SPEAKER_06I am aware of that, and I have mixed emotions on that.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_06So I'm one of those people who I I don't watch soccer. I mean, I watch Welcome Directs them. I've, you know, in the special. But that's a show. It's a documentary kind of show. Yeah. Sitting down to watch a 90-minute soccer. I don't sit down and watch 90-minute soccer. And one of the things that irritates the living piss out of me every four years at the World Cup are those people that come out of the woodwork that you know and you know them personally and you know them really well. You've been to their house, you've been to parties with them, you've been out to dinner with them. And all of a sudden, they become the biggest fucking soccer fan of the world.
SPEAKER_02Hey, the fair weather, right?
SPEAKER_06Exactly. And it drives me insane how they come out of the woodwork. And I'm like, you you never have mentioned soccer to me in ever.
SPEAKER_02Well, mine are the fair weather fans of actual like countries that come. Like all of a sudden it's all Italian or it's all Germany. Like they're all crazy for the national team when they weren't really following it at until the until the World Cup pops up. But even if they start doing well, right? Then it's oh well, let's jump on the bandwagon, they're doing well. So it's okay to cheer for them now because they're doing so good. So in this year's So we'll see.
SPEAKER_06Who's is it Spain is favored, I think. Is it? I think Spain's clue and Germany, and I forget who the other one was the favorites. Brazil.
SPEAKER_02Brazil's always kind of always in that yeah mix.
SPEAKER_00I'm not watching it for the games.
SPEAKER_02What are you watching it for? The commercials?
SPEAKER_00I'm watching Twitter for the fans who have come to America for the first time and are doing these massive road trips. Oh, okay. I watched that. Document that. I watched that part.
SPEAKER_07Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Road to the world.
SPEAKER_00Started in Atlanta, and he's like, This is amazing. They went to um some really pretty town in Georgia that had these big like colonial mansions. And oh, he just left that. Then he went to Waffle House at 1 a.m. He's like 10 out of 10. Of course. For Waffle House. For Waffle House. Nice. Taco Bell, Wendy's, right? All the American stuff. Starfish. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06That's awesome.
SPEAKER_00And he's headed to Houston, so he'll more than likely hit a Bucky's. But there's him, there's British some British people who are on Twitter doing it. And it's just so neat to see America through the eyes of people.
SPEAKER_02Someone who's never been here. Well, yeah, they're definitely experiencing the things that we just kind of like, oh, it's just that's just a Wendy's forgotten.
SPEAKER_06Well, and living so close to Washington, DC, you know, when I was growing up, like whenever we had out-of-town guests, we would always go downtown to DC and go to the museums and stuff. I I've been to the museums so many frickin' times that like I it it doesn't even phase me to think that, oh, right, this is where all of our national treasures are. Right. You know, exactly. And the history of everything.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've got a lot of people in these rural areas.
SPEAKER_06And it's I just take it for granted because I've lived in this area all my life. So yeah. I don't know, whatever. Oh, are we ready to talk about 1980? You know, I still have two more. Oh my god, there's still two more corrections on the other side. Oh my god, okay, go, go.
SPEAKER_02Anna Ferris, the house bunny. Uh-huh. She uh was tossed out of the Playboy mansion. She becomes the house mother of struggling sorority of social apps. That was the show. We never really mentioned the name of the movie. Oh, okay. It was Bunny Something. We didn't know. Yeah, the House Bunny. Right. Bunny. Yeah. Okay. House Bunny. And Emma Stone was in it. Yeah. She was. Yeah, she was one of the outcasts. Yes. And then um, I thought we had mentioned that uh no animated whatever is one uh that was in the trivia.
SPEAKER_06Right. Had not won Oscar for Best Picture. For Best Pictures. Right. It's one best animated films and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_02Right, right, right. It's never I well see, is there I think because they have their own category, would they ever three movies that were actually nominated?
SPEAKER_06It was just up in Toy Story, all got nominated for Best Picture as well. Like they weren't and they weren't in the animation category those years.
SPEAKER_02Because I thought our category was Oscar to win an Oscar, but K pop Demon Hunter won the Oscar for the movie, a song. Right. So it wasn't an option. It was best picture. So yeah. I was I was dressed up. Okay. Okay. I got you. So not a real correction.
SPEAKER_06Okay. So is that it for corrections?

SPEAKER_06All right. 1983. Yes. My first category is food. Food. Going for food. Um iconic. This is an something that was invented in 1983 for the for in food. The very first. Absolutely iconic. And when I mention it, you're gonna be like, oh fuck yeah. Really? Microwave popcorn was invented.
SPEAKER_02Oh it saved every college kid.
SPEAKER_06Right. In 1983, it became the national sensation. Wow and it changed movie nights forever.
SPEAKER_02Do you ever remember doing it in the microwave that it wasn't in the little container that you bought? Like you just put it in a bag, like a paper bag. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. Right, yeah. You just make your own. And if we always could do that, who thought of actually packaging it up and selling it? You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_06Literally, like every office complex in America, every uh college kid, every episode. Microwave popcorn. Iconic when that came out. Something else that came out that year was Jell-O Pudding Pops.
SPEAKER_02Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_06Serious? The original.
SPEAKER_05The original.
SPEAKER_02Those were good. Now they were. Technically a lot better than just a regular fudgy bar or anything like that. Yes. For some reason.
SPEAKER_06It had that smoothness to it. Yes. That was just, it was so creamy. Definitely a different thing. It was popular with kids and it was touted as a healthy treat.
SPEAKER_01Healthy treatment had milk in it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Because there was a chocolate. Sugar and the chocolate.
SPEAKER_00Right. That may be why too. He's like, this is healthy.
SPEAKER_06It should be. Fruit roll-ups came out that year. Oh, I love that. Also a healthy treat. I was never a fruit roll-up fan. It never did anything for me. Really?
SPEAKER_02So did your mom pack your lunch? She didn't pack your?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, she packed lunch, but I never got fruit roll-ups.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was a quick uh another one of those fake.

I think I remember that. I threw up for three days. I remember that. It was from the disgusting. And I I screwed up my finals for that because it was fine. Right. We talked about that before. Yes. You mentioned this before. Potato skins. Oh my God. I can kind of do them now, but I don't trust restaurants because the potato skins themselves are like, you know, potatoes themselves just come from dirt and poop and you know that grow in fertilizer. Dirt and poop. Right. Dirt and poop. And if they don't clean them very well when they get them in, to make the potato skins, the dirt and poop's on there. Yeah. And that's probably where that's what you're eating. You're eating dirt and poop, people. Dirt and poop. Dirt and poop. And we know how we don't like that on spin dive.

If it was a video that we had already seen or we didn't like that was playing on Friday night videos, we just go over to MTV and we're like, we've got another option. It's a whole couple of things. And then like flip, but the only thing is if Friday night videos was only on for an hour. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they kind of only played the same thing, and that's only six maybe videos about that because the songs were about four to five minutes long. So they had they played, yeah. So you kind of were getting one.

Oh, actually, I saw oh no, no, no, those were Empire Strike Back's outtakes I saw recently. Well, when when we get to 1980 and I get movies, I'll do Empire Strikes Back. There was like some outtake stuff I'd never seen before that I thought was entertaining. Nice. Uh anyway. Uh number two was Terms of Endearment. Was that Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson? I believe so. Yes. Am I right at least on one of the two of them?

Uh number three, you mentioned this in music, Flashdance. Yes. More than a feeling, Irene Kara, yep, and all that. Uh number four, a movie that I saw a little too young to fully get, and then after I watched it more later, I like enjoyed it much more, which it's hysterical, and it's trading places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd. Right, so I was like, what, 11, 12 at the time? And that was an R-rated movie. Yes, it was. Yes. But yeah, it was.

SPEAKER_06Dude, that was the start of the VHS craze, too.

Right. And London's never watched it, so it piqued his interest. Now, London's not a movie kid, he doesn't like sitting and watching movies. He's he's always said, you know, movies, it's the only thing movies are is something that's either better or worse than your own life. So true. Okay, which is true.

SPEAKER_06And you know, and he figured this out at 15, you know, and now he's almost 17. Anyway, so he said, he goes, Hey, can we watch the Terminator movies? I said, Yeah, there's like six of them. But the first two are the the good ones. Oh, yeah. And then it just gets and I said, Yeah, we can watch. And he goes, So Friday night? And I'm like, Yeah, all right. We're gonna have movie night, we're gonna watch Terminator and Terminator 2. Perfect, end of the world, which is awesome. And I I told him, I said, and then you'll get to really see how how they did foresee AI. See something about it in the future of AI, right? And how everyone brings it up. They were talking about it in the 80s when they made these movies.

I liked Moonraker. Um Live and Let Die. I can't remember which one was that the one with uh the Dr. Moore.

Uh Twilight Zone the movie came out that year. I I remember seeing that in the theater with my mom took us to see it. You want to see something scary? Yeah, you want to see something that's really scary. Classic. Dan Aykroyd. Yep. Yep. Uh uh Eddie and the Cruisers came out that year.

And we were invited to the rehearsal on the Friday night, the rehearsal dinner to shoot some stuff. Right. And she put on, she had her own boom box. It was just like in this little, like, you know, um pool house area, like in a like an apartment community, you know, kind of thing. Okay. So they didn't have to pay, they were able to use it for free, like just a big room and whatever. Anyway, so she had her own music and she had a boom box and she had the Eddie and the Cruiser soundtrack. So awesome.

SPEAKER_06And so she puts it in, she starts it and hits play, and then she walks away from it. Well, the boom box is our the table we were sitting at was next to where the boom box was. It was next to us. And on the dark side. Yeah, yeah. Nice. Was on repeat. Oh my god. Because when she started, she accidentally hit the repeat once on the front over and over again. So it kept repeating. So by the fourth time it started, we're like, what the is this? What the fuck's going on? And we're sitting there, and like, even though the people at the table, we look at them like, what are we doing? It's just on re like what the and I'm turning around and I'm looking at them like, oh, it is, it's on repeat. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00It just took 40 years, but uh we had a standoff with the Soviet Union um because we put some missiles in the UK and Germany, and they didn't like that. SPEAKER_06And they have like he apparently he relapses on his drugs and like then it all hellbreak. Yeah, so that's in the new episode of Diaries. So oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02Yeah, so here we go. It's it's a day in the life. So in 1985, oh yeah, day in the life. Here's your f here's your day. Um, you start your day. Uh, you wake up to the buzzing of your GE flip clock, radio clock, um, just buzzing away. And head into the kitchen to get your breakfast and watch your parents pack your lunch in your ET or Return of the Jedi lunchbox, um, just so you can uh watch Inspector Gadget or G.I. Joe before you head off to school. Cool. Okay. Um, your work day consists of typewriters, typewriters, uh, landlines, and carbon paper, because we didn't have half the shit that we have. Yeah, and uh and you may also take some computer training and your bulky desktop computer on uh for Word 1.0 because it was just released.
SPEAKER_07Yeah, Word 1.0.
SPEAKER_02Uh your lunchtime uh as a kid would be spent time on your playground of packed dirt or loose gravel. Do you remember the the grayish gravel crap we had on the playgrounds? Yes. Uh just under your monkey bars. Um your kids' lunch only cost two dollars. And uh I saw some pictures of some of these lunches. It was the shingle pizza, you know, the one it was just a giant square.
SPEAKER_06I actually saw the recipe for that online.
SPEAKER_02It was the barely any salt lunch pizza and the frozen cheese on top. And it was just, it was like um I you can get these things at pools, and what they would do is they would microwave them in the plastic, the whole pizza, which is the same. And you would just peel this thing apart, all the cheese would be on the plastic, and your little you're left with this shingle of crust with sauce on it. And I was like, Oh, what just happened? I remember when I used to go to uh Pohick Park in uh uh just over there in uh outside of Woodbridge. Um, and they would do that. And I'd have that was the best thing as a kid. I don't know why. It was the worst thing you could probably eat, but oh my god, it was just it was a treat, a treat and a half. Um, yeah, uh your parents uh they could run out uh while they're running errands, and if they needed to call you from home, they would need a quarter or a dime to throw into their payphone so they could reach out and see if there was anything missing. Um, but uh yeah, they would uh grab some lunch in the smoking or non-smoking section of the restaurant and uh with a sit-down meal of about four to seven dollars. And the meal was a full meal. Like everything. And dessert. Like everything. It was all included. Four to seven bucks. Interesting pricing. Um after work, uh you would uh spend some time uh with your uh well, with your significant other or whoever at the local Sears or shopping mall, where you would then spend some time running around, or you could pick up your new Atari 5200. Yep. Um or uh you could just stay at home and watch the record-breaking finale of MASH or uh catch a video on the newly launched MTV. Yep. Um wind down uh that evening uh before heading to bed by dropping a needle onto the newly released MJ Thriller album. Or head into your carpeted basement to watch a rented video or play a few records of or a few rounds of Mario Brothers. Yep. And then you just go to bed. And then go to bed. And then go to bed or stay up and start it all again, yeah. Right, or watching videos, yes.
SPEAKER_06So I have to bring up because the this episode's had a lot of Michael Jackson stuff. Have you guys watched the new documentary on Netflix?
SPEAKER_02No, they say it's very skewed.
SPEAKER_06I watch it, I've watched it, and I watched the HBO one a couple years ago that came out that Oprah was like a part of? Yeah. Yeah. And I watched that one and I watched this new one, and I do not know how the justice system failed so bad and let him walk free.
SPEAKER_02Through the but that was all represented in the documentary.
SPEAKER_06It's it's the but from the HBO documentary a couple years back, I mean, it was bad. Like the stuff that I'm like watching, I'm like, oh my god, just stomach turning. Like the the stuff that like these pe these kids are now who are adults, like one of them was Wade Robinson. Right. And he like he was one of them that in the Michael Jackson trial actually went in as a witness in on behalf of Michael Jackson and he swore that nothing happened. But then in the the HBO documentary, you know, that came out a couple years ago, he finally broke his silence and said, Yes, this stuff did happen and I was molested. And he even addresses you know the whole perjury and him going on the trial and you know, and all that stuff. And yeah, so it's so between the HBO and this one, I'm just like, my I'm so just you mentioned Michael Jackson, and I just want to throw up. It's just so disgusting the things that he did to these kids.
SPEAKER_02And the one thing that I remember was the baby over the balcony. Oh yeah, when you dangled his kid out over the roof.
SPEAKER_00And I went, wait, what the what?
SPEAKER_02That was his son. Yeah, that was his son.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was, and he was showing himself, but because he was so popular, he got away with the city.
SPEAKER_06Well, and once they they interviewed one of the jurors from that day, from the jury, and because the trial went for like 30 some days, and then you know, five or six days the jury was out. And right anyway, they have they have two of the jurors from the jury there, but one of them, she even to this day still is completely like in awe of Michael Jackson, even though that's how he got and walked away from this. Yeah, a good jury. Because well, I mean, and technically, your jury is supposed to be a jury of your peers, they're supposed to be there in favor of you. And but this woman was so starstruck and just like, oh my gosh, and then and then and she even says in it, she's like, Oh, and then when we read that read that he was acquitted on all charges, he he looked right at me and he said, Thank you. Oh, sweet. And it was just like, and she's and she says it with like a glimmer in her eye, like that was her brush with someone famous. Because I'm like, How about the fact that he was doing these horrible things to these? And they had all the proof and the evidence because like for them to even convict, they have to have something to bring it up. Yeah, evidence. And they did, and they had it, and like that jury let him walk free and acquitted him of that. It doesn't mean he didn't do it, but it's because they now have all this proof and all their documentary. Did you know that Michael Jackson is uh in Jeffrey Epstein's personal uh contacts list?

SPEAKER_02I think anyone that had money was well, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00Do you think that's the same thing that happened with OJ? Is that the jury of his peers were people who loved him so much?
SPEAKER_06I I could have been because you know, the civil case, he had to pay how many millions out? Yeah, yeah. Right. But like, how come the criminal case couldn't yeah, but that's all there. Anyway, that's a whole other podcast. That that's our that's our believe me. The Michael Jackson thing, I could I could literally go through episode by episode and just oh my god, it was so nauseating and just stomach turning as a parent, as a j oh my god, just that he was did this thing to people and got away with it. Wow, that's uh because then he died, he died four years after the trial ended.
