We think the spinner got stuck. We go back a whopping 3 years to 2023. So many things that felt like they happened just last summer. We talk about Current Events, Pop Culture, Food, Music, Movies and Wanted: Dead (no alive).
2023. Okay, we had this conversation in the car today. My son and I are out driving around, and in our as we're leaving our neighborhood and getting out towards the main highway, which we're about three miles off of the main roads, um, there is this farm area, and they're digging out the area to make a pond.
SPEAKER_02I saw the sign.
SPEAKER_01And my son, my oldest son, who's now driving, 16, you know, all that, he goes, No, that's more like a lake. And I'm like, that is so not a lake.
SPEAKER_03That is a pond.
SPEAKER_01I said, lakes you can take speed boats out on and like and and sea does and do things. That is that's not even gonna be big enough for to swim across.
SPEAKER_02Like, let alone, I mean, it's if you can throw a rock from one side to the other, no matter what side you're on, it's a pond.
SPEAKER_01Right. Uh but that's where the question came in. What is a pond? Is are there actual dimensions that it has to be a certain side to make the classification either a pond or a lake? And does it have to hold like a certain like gallons of water or something? Like, you know, 50,000 gallons of water, or I don't know how much would be in a lake or a pond. But or is it, you know, you can't see across it.
SPEAKER_00Does that make it a lake, or does that a lake is a large, large inland body of fresh or salt water surrounded by land? So it has to be large. Right.
SPEAKER_02So I just I just looked it up. Okay. And it's more about depth.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02A pond is shallow enough so sunlight can reach the bottom. And that creates plants that grow from the bottom. Whereas legs are larger and deeper and scary. The sunlight doesn't reach, which causes distinct temperature layers.
SPEAKER_00And they're different.
SPEAKER_01There could be a lake that they're digging. If they dig the nose. Yeah. Right. Because they've gone, they've dug pretty freaking deep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but that is deep. I would have to say 20, 10 to 20, maybe feet. Okay. Yeah, I would say, right?
SPEAKER_00Because I was this is just in a farm?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's right out front of the farm. I saw it. And I would still say it's a pond just because lakes are 30 and 50 feet. I mean, lakes have to be big enough or deep enough for boats, right? So that would be a good thing.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Well, that was that was the question today. What's the difference? But it's about the depth. Okay, well, hey, I learned something new today.
SPEAKER_00I'm also gonna say you a man-made lake would be very, very hard to do. I would agree with Winchester.
SPEAKER_01In Winchester, yes. But there are there are man-made lakes around the city area that are, you know, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like Manassas, I don't know if that's true. Lake Fairfax. Lake Fairfax. Lake Fairfax.
SPEAKER_01Lake isn't Lake Anna a man-mana? Yeah, yeah, exactly. Probably lake, if I could say that.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, on a farm, definitely a pond.
SPEAKER_01Definitely a pond. Okay, cool. Ruling decided. Where's my gavel? Clink clink. Yes, clink. Do my little it has been said. So it has been said. Queen Joanne has made the it has made it so. You know the Queen is here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Supposedly in Winchester.
SPEAKER_00Oh, is she? Aren't they visiting Front Royal?
SPEAKER_01Do they know that just because it says royal in the word doesn't mean it's as fancy as they think that might be. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They need to go to Prince William.
SPEAKER_02Yes. There you go. Maybe that's it. Maybe they're hitting all the hotspots.
SPEAKER_01They're not going to be able to do it. The Prince Royal name is the colour. Yep, exactly. And then they get there and what the fuck is that? That's what you have to do. Like this isn't what we were expecting. This is not Royal. See if I use Expedia again. Fucking A.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Yes, like Jesus. Holy crap. We gotta go to King's Dominion, too. Oh, King's Dominion!
SPEAKER_01We need to see the Eiffel Tower.
SPEAKER_03Oh my God.
SPEAKER_02Why were you here? And they're like, this is embarrassing. This isn't this isn't it.
SPEAKER_00This is just embarrassing. This is just the Americans don't know French. Don't know crap.
SPEAKER_02Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Embarrassing.
SPEAKER_02Let's get out of here. These are wankers.
SPEAKER_01Oh, so I Joanne, I had the I had a quick thing that I need to talk about real quick.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Fucking 90-day fiance.
SPEAKER_00Did you start it?
SPEAKER_01So you told me the two names of two couples. So I I just went with the first couple that you sent me the names of, and I then went and looked up online to see what season they were in. And apparently they were in the 90-day fiance beyond or something.
SPEAKER_00And then right for two seasons.
SPEAKER_01And then it said they were in the regular 90-day fiance in season seven. So I'm like, okay, I'll start with season seven.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01And I'm now seven episodes into season seven, and they're not in it. So now, and this is my my issue with with first of all with the show. Hold on, let me back. So back, hold on, hold your thoughts. Hold your thoughts a little. Hold your thoughts till I'm until I'm done. You'll have the floor in a minute. Uh so I'm watching this show, and I already said last week when I saw that the episodes were like an hour and a half each. And I'm just like, okay, and then I'm looking into because you're like, oh, start from the very first season. I'm like, there's like 12 fucking seasons and all the spin-offs, and all of those are an hour and a half episodes. That's still worth that. It's painful. It's gotta be. So I'm watching season seven and I'm going along. Okay. And then like around uh so in episode three or four, they introduce a new couple. And I was just like that, and I was like, wait, but we're following these people over here, and you just in episode four, okay. I got to episode seven last night, and they introduced another new couple, and I'm like, no, no, no, no, no, you don't understand. We're by episode seven, the plane is coming in for its final approach. We're not we're not building new character development here. This is like the show's the season's winding down now, not continuing up at episode seven. Oh my gosh, I I was so annoyed. There's one couple in season seven, and I'm not gonna name their names. I I just fast forward through them because I I can't even stand to look at them because I'm like, you two, there's no way on earth this is ever going to work.
SPEAKER_00I bet I can name them.
SPEAKER_01Who do you think it is?
SPEAKER_00Hold on, let me see.
SPEAKER_01Oh, look up the season seven.
SPEAKER_00Let me see who's on it.
SPEAKER_01I can't even. And I think there's something like 18 episodes in season seven. There's so many. An hour and a half each. That's that's killing me. I'm I'm actually doing like just a natural break. Like I'll watch 20 minutes or something and then be like, okay, you know, scene change, and I'll like pause. I'm like, all right, I'll come back to it there when I'm I'm, you know, and if it overlaps into the start of a next episode, it doesn't matter. I, you know, yeah. I but I can't sit there through like 90 whole minutes.
SPEAKER_00You gotta see.
SPEAKER_01Because there's that one couple and Jorge and Anfisa.
SPEAKER_00No, who the hell's that?
SPEAKER_02Wow. There's so many. You guys have no clue who you're talking about. I was gonna say a season four.
SPEAKER_01I have no idea what you're talking about. Wow. See, you're just throwing stuff out there.
SPEAKER_00Season seven. Okay, hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_01They've gotta have a Wikipedia page. Come on. There's gotta be something. There's gotta be a Wikipedia. This is a correction waiting to happen.
SPEAKER_00Antna and Marcel, they're so cute. Oh, Jesus, that's even a different one.
SPEAKER_01That's them. Yeah. Oh, good. No, they say together. Oh my god, are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_00They are adorable. Oh, how together?
SPEAKER_01How are they adorable? Oh my god. If they if Marcel would learn English, if he would learn English and stop handing the frickin' telephone back and forth with the translator on it, it's just like learn some fucking English, dude. If you're moving to America, he is adorable. Oh, he uh he looks clueless. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Guess who doesn't stay together?
SPEAKER_01The communication would have to be bad. Um uh was it is it Tiana and Artina? And what's his name? The uh South African guy. Sin Jin?
SPEAKER_00Yes, they break up, Sin Jin.
SPEAKER_01No shed, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01The way she talks to him, believe me, I'm surprised, you know, when when the word shed came out of her mouth that I would have been like, no, I'm not gonna go sleep in a shed.
SPEAKER_00Um you have to follow through with Mike and Natalie.
SPEAKER_01Mike and Natalie.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Just our neighbor, all of our listeners are fine.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Oh, right, yes. Mike and Natalie, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00She's Ukrainian, yes. Yes, and um you started season seven when Michael and Angela get married.
SPEAKER_01They do?
SPEAKER_00Well, yes, they were.
SPEAKER_01Okay, it must be, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But before I mean, oh God, they are the best.
SPEAKER_01This is so painful.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_00I'm just gonna say my favorite line.
SPEAKER_02Struggling through it. Struggling through it. My favorite line of all time. Okay. Oh, how many episodes? How many uh seasons? 12?
SPEAKER_01The 12th season's about to come out. Oh, geez. Just of 90 Day Fiance, not to mention all the other six different offshoot episodes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I also recommended this to someone today. So that's that's how invested.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, so what was your favorite line?
SPEAKER_00I can tote it. I just need your egg.
SPEAKER_01I can tote it, I just need an egg.
SPEAKER_00Wow. I can tote it. I just need your egg. Angela says this to her daughter because Michael wants to have a baby, and Angela is my age.
SPEAKER_02I just need you egg, but her daughter, I can tote it. I just need your egg.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_02Holy jeez.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Wow, that's a lot. Well, I'll be I'll be looking forward to that episode. Pack that up.
SPEAKER_00And then you need to Google what Angela looks like now.
SPEAKER_01So it's Angela and Michael.
SPEAKER_00Michael. Okay, we've talked.
SPEAKER_01We've talked way too much about this. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no kidding.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. Dave's like moving away. So, Joanne, Joanne, what did you what did you have happen this week? Jesus.
SPEAKER_00I have fallen down the hole.
SPEAKER_01Oh, not fallen down. Oh, not injured yourself.
SPEAKER_02I heard falling down. Yes.
SPEAKER_01You watched all the Tron movies.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which hole? Which hole were we talking about?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00I downloaded Claude Code.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And over the past three days, I have trained it to do 95% of my work.
SPEAKER_01Nice. That is awesome. And you were afraid of AI.
SPEAKER_00Not afraid of it. You know, my husband names them, did I tell you? So every like project he has has a different name. I think I told you like one was called Lev because Lev means life and all knowing. And it named itself that. And I'm like, dude, I can't.
SPEAKER_02That's wrong.
SPEAKER_00So he was helping so yeah. He was helping me set it up. And he's like talking to it and telling it somebody like, don't tell it my name. It doesn't need to know that.
SPEAKER_01That's personal. That's a little personal. Personal information.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, it's it's actually very cool. And um I'm making it do all the mundane stuff I don't want to do. I currently used up my session for the day, but I've been using it all. So just because you're using the free version or no, well, that I used up literally in 15 minutes. So I'm doing the the uh $20 a month. And I've been able to use it all day, and I've had it like doing a whole bunch of stuff. But yeah, that that was that's me. Oh okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm see, I'm intrigued. I'm I you know, I I keep seeing the ads for like the online learn AI classes, like how to, you know, and you know, it's like, oh yeah, you know, in one month you can do it so easy. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00It's uh okay, so you don't even need a class.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's kind of deceiving. If you wanted to program AI, I'd say okay. But if you want to use AI, it's like talking to someone, right? And just telling them what to do. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And the intricacies are trying to tweak it. Right. And that's the only reason behind it.
SPEAKER_00There's a uh function in Claude called whisper, and you can literally talk to it and tell instead of typing it in. And it just does. I mean, literally, and then I was like, Oh, could you do X instead? And I didn't even tell it instead of what, and it knew. Oh, right, because yeah, it's creepy.
SPEAKER_01It's holding on just like a regular person with memory. We were at the hospital today visiting my father-in-law, and they have a creepy robot that roams the hospital. No, they don't called uh what was her name? Because in the elevators, her there's like the little picture frame picture, like, you know, if you run into not Mimi or something. But no, but it but it's like this robot that roams the frickin' hospital and will get in the elevators and go in and out and do it, it's got like these blue eyes, it's like you know, Wally on steroids or something. And it's just like yeah, and like we got into the elevator and we went up to the second floor and the doors open and we're talking about it in the elevator. It's like, oh guys, look, they have a robot, whatever. We open the doors and it's ripe.
SPEAKER_02It's right in front of you. Did you get embarrassed because you were talking about it?
SPEAKER_01We were just like, keep walking, keep walking, keep walking. Ignore you walk. Don't think I got that. I even like went back and peeked around the corner. It was walking around the corner. Did it turn towards you? You know, red eyes because you were talking about home. I totally went back to peek.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, is it following us? Did it raise a little robot finger and go, I'm watching you? That's what it did. Yes, it turned on you. That's lovely. You're a dick. That's how it's gonna happen. That's how it's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_00What does it do? Does it deliver things or shit in your face?
SPEAKER_02Or who knows?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. It's probably just new at the hospital. And I was just like, what is a robot?
SPEAKER_02It delivers drugs and shoots people up. Yeah, exactly. You know, it takes blood. Let me increase the morphine for you. I'm here to take your blood pressure.
unknownYeah, no.
SPEAKER_01I'll change your bed pan.
SPEAKER_02Please stand still. What if we could do that stuff? Yes, I'll do that. That would be I'm here to take your temperature. Yeah, that's all we need. Rektol. Please. Please bend over. Be calm. Take a deep breath. Moving on.
SPEAKER_01Jeez.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. Hey, this is the podcast. I don't know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_01So, Matt in California, hopefully you're on campus. Oh shit, I forgot to hit record. Oh, well. No, I'm just kidding. I'm kidding. Well, it'd be a fresh start anyway. Start over. Start over. Do all that again.
SPEAKER_022023. Yes. What is this? Are we on sugar? What is happening? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I said beforehand that I was going to pour myself a uh gin and mountain dew. And I I don't even think I need gin and mountain dew. Wow.
SPEAKER_00I told you my favorite gin combo, didn't I? From Trader Jet. The um the uh elder, elder flower and lemon.
SPEAKER_02Yes, you did tell us about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So good. Two of those elder flower and lemon comes in little cans, so you don't drink too much. Of course not. Gin. So you pour the little can and then a little gin.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Yes. Yes, perfect. I will not remember that. Because I never go into Trader Joe's. When are you coming back, Joanne? Oh, actually, I will stop on your way.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I will be there.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, you are coming.
SPEAKER_00Yes, not no next Tuesday.
SPEAKER_01Oh, sweet. Oh my gosh, next Tuesday. Cinco de Mayo. I gotta clean the fucking house. Nice.
SPEAKER_00I'm a week off. So I I didn't think I was leaving here until next Friday, but it turns out I'm leaving in like three days. Oh, on the first. Yes.
SPEAKER_02May 1st. So you'll be here on Tuesday. So you'll be here on Cinco de Mayo. Cinco. Yeah. Cinco. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Cinco de Mayo. Yes.
SPEAKER_02That's our this is our our uh yeah, this is our Cinco. Happy Cinco de Mayo for anyone listening to us.
SPEAKER_01We appreciate it.
SPEAKER_00Do I need to break my microphone?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Um one year I was funny, I was, I don't know what I was thinking, but I made some comment about Cinco de Mayo being Cinco. I think I said it was like Cinco to Ocho or something. And they're like the five, five the eight. Five of eight. I was like, no, no, no. I mean, you're a Star Trek character. Cinco to Ocho. Yeah, you're a Star Trek character. Five of eight. Five of eight.
SPEAKER_02Jesus. What is that for us today? Anyway, so um I don't we've been watching the NHL, and I don't know if you've seen this. The NHL. Yeah. And I don't know if you've seen this, but Wayne Gretzky really does have an issue. He's he's looking like he might kick it soon. Every time they're like, okay, so they'll show the the guys, right? Uh like when they're pulling away or they're ending the session and they're going to commercial or something like that. And he is just looks lost, like a deer in the headlights, and they keep showing him. And then there are times when they flash to him and he doesn't really know what to say. I'm wondering if there's something kind of wrong because he does comment on stuff that they question him on.
SPEAKER_01Well, did you see last year in the playoffs when they asked him if he knew Pink Pony Club? And he goes, Oh, yeah, I know Pink Pony Club. That's a great song. And like, and they all start laughing, and uh the you know, Gretzky actually knew, you know, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I saw Ovechkin for the first time, probably in 20 years.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00What has happened to his face?
SPEAKER_01Dude, he's played 20 years of hockey.
SPEAKER_00What happened? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you get beat up, bruised up, cut, bleed.
SPEAKER_02We haven't seen us in in three weeks. Wait till you see us. Yeah, exactly. Jesus. Cryptkeepers.
SPEAKER_00I like I had to look at both. I'm like, I know he's the taller one of these two guys, but uh no, no recognition of his old self there at all.
SPEAKER_02Really? I think he still looks his thing. Well, we've seen him like all the time. Yeah, we've seen him all the time. Yeah, think that he's yeah, but he definitely is aging. I mean, like, yeah, I would say gracefully for Amanda. His poor teeth. His teeth have always been. Oh, yeah. The gap in his teeth has always been. Well, just they were a wreck. Well, they were a wreck. That's lovely. And then um, one other thing I had was um in Leesburg, um, there was a golf course off of Route 7 there in Leesburg. Yeah that they were going to be putting in a disc golf course. And I had mentioned that a while ago.
SPEAKER_01Oh, where the was it West Oak? Yeah, West Park West West. Yes, and they tore it down.
SPEAKER_02They tore West Park down and they are now putting up what looks to be a strip mall, but they had a um uh or I'm sorry, an industrial park, but um they had a court hearing about the you know, uh hearing for the park, like for and against on the park, right? And the fact that they were putting in a disc golf course. Um there were people that were complaining that the disc golf course was going to be too loud. Too loud for the colour. Too loud. Next to the toll road, yes, but no, not the roadby hitting because of the frisbee hitting the chains. Um one of the uh people in the in the um uh uh Karen. Karen that's because this was reported. I'm not I'm not like just dropping names. This is her name, and she was in the thing. She goes, she bought a chain basket to see if my worries about noise were overblown. Uh it's worse than you can imagine. Now I'm telling you right now where she live. She lives next to the course where the course would be. I thought that was I thought that was low-income. But there's there's townhouses right there. Oh, and then on the opposite side of the course of the golf course, there's actual uh housing too, like um a development, like an HOA type housing.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry, that course is bounded by Route 15 and the Dallas Toll Road.
SPEAKER_02And seven. Seven's right there, too. Trucks and everything are blown past this, motorcycles, uh, air brakes, and you can't tell me my electric car at two in the morning. Ching. Yeah, ching. What's gonna be a problem? And she she goes on and says this is an activity that is inherently noisy, shatters the quiet that wakes children from their naps and frightens anxious dogs. Oh, it's like the only anxious dogs are gonna be the ones who are like, I want to chase that frisbee.
SPEAKER_01Right, because I want to go out of the side.
SPEAKER_02Um, another uh uh comment was uh it will be the ghosts of Scrooge on every windy day. Those chains do not blow like that. They don't, yeah. They don't they're not wind chunking, but yeah, thank you.
SPEAKER_01Right, they're weighted, they're heavy.
SPEAKER_02Um, yeah, and then they're gonna see if they can find uh quieter baskets.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02The only quieter baskets is if they were made of nerf, for God's sake. I I was just like, you gotta be kidding me. What a joke.
SPEAKER_00People will complain about literally everything.
SPEAKER_02Everything they literally free activity. You can you don't pay a lot of the times when you go to uh a disc golf course. And when you go, it you're just anyone can do it. You just take a frisbee and you just throw it. Right.
SPEAKER_00Did they get mad at the actual golf course where the actual golf balls can break your wings?
SPEAKER_02Who knows? Yeah, those electric golf carts whizzing around. Who knows? Fuck man, don't you still? Fucking eight hundred people throw in their putters. Right.
SPEAKER_00I hate people. That's why we moved.
SPEAKER_02Is that true? Because I hate people. You just hate people. So you just move somewhere where you're just surrounded by chickens and sheep. Yeah. Thanks, listeners. She hates y'all.
SPEAKER_01She hates you. There's our soundball. There's our soundbite.
SPEAKER_02Call that one for the Joanne hates everyone. That's why. Well, it's only one third of us. Just to let you know. Just love. I'm letting the other 28 listeners know we love you. That's all.
SPEAKER_00Anyone who also hates people may join my club.
SPEAKER_02May enjoy that.
SPEAKER_01Perfect. Are you going to start a Facebook page? The uh Frederick Fredericksburg Women Who Hate People. People hate ourselves.
SPEAKER_00It's called Fredericksburg Rants and Ravens.
SPEAKER_01Oh, perfect. Yeah, just don't call yourselves the real housewives. Please. Oh my god. That's so overused. Don't don't do that. Creativeness. That's so overused.
SPEAKER_02I have a couple corrections. Okay, a couple corrections. We had mentioned uh Lyme disease because of course I oh and I broke that record. I didn't have a tick on me this week, and I didn't get injured. Oh, nice. So breaking the streaks, yes. So amazing. And uh injuries per se, because technically I get injured all the time. But um nothing uh earth-shattering. Right, good injuries. No earth sharing physically show on me. I have scratches and things like that. Um the symptoms of Lyme disease, uh fever, chills, fatigue, uh, muscle and joint aches, and swollen lymph nodes. So I didn't have any of those. So I don't think I'm gonna have lymph nodes or any kind of uh Lyme disease. Lisa's report um she didn't have it, uh I'm I'm uh proud to say. Uh and she is on meds for it, but uh the reports came back on she's gonna be able to do it. So if they if they bite her, they'll die. Like the like the she actually is taking it as a precaution against Lyme disease. Oh good for her.
SPEAKER_00I think that's a good idea.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would say too. Good job, Lisa. Yeah, and we mentioned baud rate. Yes. Um the baud rate, um, I uh I was worried that I wasn't right.
SPEAKER_01So I because you can never because once we say it, it's set in stone. It seems to be set in stone, right? It's not there's no correcting anything on the show.
SPEAKER_02Was kind of half-assed talking about that, thinking I knew what I was talking about. I did know what I was talking about. A baud rate is a bit per second um download rate. Um, the the uh formula to figure out uh bit rate includes the baud rate time the bits per symbol of downloadable data. Does that make sense? Great, sure. I trust you. Anyway, then you can actually really trust me because that's actually what uh we talked about last time and it was true. Um and then we had mentioned insane apps. We were you were downloading the Pope app, and I mentioned some stupid app that wasn't real. Oh, right, because one of the Mountains has an app, Squatch app. Mount St. Helens has a real app. A Twitter. That's right. So I went out and looked up apps, and I was gonna do this as a uh, but I couldn't come up with any real apps that made sense. So I kind of gave up. But I'm gonna just read off a list of these and say, would you use these? Okay. So um wakey is the first one. It is an app that you can receive a random person calling you on the phone, a stranger you don't even know, instead of an alarm to wake you up.
SPEAKER_00It's horrible.
SPEAKER_02And you would then hold a conversation with this person to wake you up.
SPEAKER_01I've said that for years because I'm always up like at till four or five o'clock in the morning. I said I should always be a wake-up call person, like hello.
SPEAKER_02Hi, how you doing?
SPEAKER_01Do you still have the song on your voicemail? Or how many phones ago was that? Which one? The your wake-up song that I used to sing for you. No, this is your wake-up song. No, I do not have that one.
SPEAKER_02I did. I've saved it a while ago.
SPEAKER_01It did not time to get out of bed.
SPEAKER_02Perfect. This is your wake-up song. Get the fuck up. Yes, just what I need to when I go on trips.
SPEAKER_00Do you want me to have AI make you an app where you can offer that service?
SPEAKER_02That would be perfect, Vern.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then you could record it and it would automatically call people who sign up for it, and you wouldn't have to do anything about making it. You would do multiple ones, right?
SPEAKER_02And you would sign up. Just do it. And it just be your service. Perfect. Um, another one is called Run P. Okay. This was an informational one. It lets you know the safest time to run to the bathroom during a long movie.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I've heard of that. I think I've heard of that too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So you would you would you guys would use that one. Yeah. I totally would, because I always have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the day. This one is a sleep talk recorder. It records your sleep sounds. Yeah, and it filters out all the silences in between. So all you get is what you were saying in your sleep. I would almost think this would be dangerous.
SPEAKER_00I would love that.
SPEAKER_02Really? That would be funny.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02Another one. I'd be interested in that. Poop map. Okay. This is an interactive map where you can mark and rate the places where you've pooped on a map. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was the map of San Francisco.
SPEAKER_01Oh, hold on. Pause. Pause one second. So hold that hold that thought. Sorry, go. Yeah, I got it. Did you know that when the developers were making Pokemon Go, they were actually designing it to map out the entire world, which they ended up doing from all the people that played it and started doing. They were able to from from everyone's cell phones that were playing Pokemon Go all over the world, they were able to map out the entire world. Everywhere, everywhere. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Who was playing in Antarctica?
SPEAKER_01I I have no idea. I'm sure somebody was. That one summer of Pokemon Go, like literally you would go out and just people looking at their phones, walking around.
SPEAKER_02And just in a daze where they had to actually put on a Pokemon.
SPEAKER_01And they were walking outside, walking, going places trying to get little Pokemon balls or whatever and shit.
SPEAKER_00That was so fun. I like that. And then I got bored.
SPEAKER_02I did too. Yeah. Um, I do have uh mine and I I still have it. You still play? I I do every once in a while. I never played it. I do every once in a while. Um the lighter simulator. Okay. This is the um fire hazard-free app that lets you hold up a lighter on your phone.
SPEAKER_01Really? What is it? I I used to have the lighter lighter lighter. So it so like you hold up your lighter at a concert, like you burn it on the screen and it look and it looks like a lighter. It looks like a lighter in a flame burning on the screen.
SPEAKER_02And you turn it to light your lighter.
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_02It becomes you actually have to make it light. That's even funnier. Yeah. Um, and the last one I have is car mate. Uh, this translates your GPS directions into pirate speak.
SPEAKER_03Oh, Jesus.
SPEAKER_02And and it's uh I would have to say that it might get a little confusing sometimes when you kind of figure out.
SPEAKER_00Do you guys do that in ways?
SPEAKER_01Uh I did it when Samuel L. Jackson did the voice.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Um, and I did it for when the cookie monster did Sesame Street, and I did put the cookie monster on on as my that's a good one.
SPEAKER_03Morning.
SPEAKER_01I love that you're doing it.
SPEAKER_03Give him a cookie. That's what he said.
SPEAKER_00He was saying, give him a cookie. Nice. Nice. That's good. I have it on for it, it it has your astrological sign. So your car will be like have your sign, everything. And then the lady who talks to you like says things that are characteristics of your sign. So for me, she'll be like, um, where are we going today? Oh, it doesn't matter. We'll have fun. And it's like it's just all this funny stuff that's like so appropriate for your sign. That's pretty good. I love it. Nice.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Cool. Sweet. All right, let's get into this year. Oh, perfect. 2023. This is the most current year that we've done on the show. So this was one of those things where it's like, yeah, it just seems like it was yesterday. If you would think. So my my first topic is current events. And I went down the list of current events going, wow, was that really three years ago? I thought that was like last summer.
SPEAKER_02Oh, right. Right around the corner.
SPEAKER_01There's one thing. When I get to it, I'll tell you what you want. That does. So it was also so in 2023, it was the start of the major AI integration.
SPEAKER_03Oh, wow.
SPEAKER_01So it all really started. So it was the big push for AI to, you know, yeah, just three years ago. Wow. And how far and and today Joanne was using Claude all day.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Now I don't have to work.
SPEAKER_02And in another three years. And now she doesn't have to work. Which maybe that's what I need. They'll be ruling the world, so it's okay.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Lisa thinks that's what's going to happen. So there was also an indictment of Donald Trump that year.
SPEAKER_00For what? For the uh 14 felonies?
SPEAKER_01I I don't remember which time it was. Which time was it? I don't know. He's been it's been so many. Uh COVID-19 was officially uh um declared end of a state of emergency. Oh COVID 19. Oh, 27. So just three years after. Yeah. And then of course, you know, how could Joanne never forget this? And I can't believe this was three years ago.
SPEAKER_00Uh King Charles became that was in my that was in my pop culture. Oh, the pop culture.
SPEAKER_01I know, but it was a current event. It's more event.
SPEAKER_00It is, it is more current events.
SPEAKER_01I'm trying not to step on your toes. Right.
SPEAKER_00As our podcast is always interconnected. Interwoven.
SPEAKER_01Yes. He is here. He's not close. He might be staying at the best western right here in Winchester. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02He could be right there. I might pass him on the way out.
SPEAKER_01You might, yeah. Well, look for all the police activity. I'm sure there's a huge escort.
SPEAKER_02Right. I'll buy him a taco.
SPEAKER_01Oh, there you go. Okay. Uh, they have the continued conflict in Ukraine, which of course is still going on. Oh, which is another thing. Going back to that 90 days of life show or whatever it's called. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01The one woman from Kiev, Ukraine, like he goes and visits her, and there's like no signs of like war and stuff going on. And I'm like, did that be a little bit more than a little bit of a few? No, because it was five years ago. That was five years ago.
SPEAKER_00Five or six years ago. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If it was season seven, because it was season seven, so it was really before the conflict escalated. Wow. Oh, okay. Because I'm like watching everyone, they're just walking down the streets like normal, like nothing's, you know. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00They would have filmed it probably the year before, too.
SPEAKER_01Right, right.
SPEAKER_00Well, if you look at if you look at I refuse to call it Kyiv because that's not how the Ukrainians say it. Kiev.
SPEAKER_01Kiev. Okay.
SPEAKER_00It's like the city. It's always been Kiev forever and ever and ever.
SPEAKER_01And then someone was like, someone's like, no, it's Kyiv. I don't know how that started. I don't either. It's a whole other freaking episode.
SPEAKER_00If you look, the city itself is fine. Like nothing's going on there. It's I guess out in the skirmishy areas or whatever.
SPEAKER_01It's closer to the border.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but people are like going out to restaurants and going to the disco. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Wow. And like it's just like nothing's going okay.
SPEAKER_00Did you did you know Zelensky, the president, was a comedian. You didn't haven't met him? I don't remember. He's a very, very cool guy. He was a comedian.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00And one of the things he was most known for was this sitcom where he played the president of a country. As of the Ukraine.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00And he was a teacher, and like his students nominated him or something, and he won. And he becomes president of the Ukraine and he tries to get rid of like all the corruption.
SPEAKER_01And let me guess, in his tagline every show, he had to go, Why are you so stupid?
SPEAKER_00Yes. Was that his tagline? I think it's called Man of the People, and it's it's actually pretty good. I mean, it's it's very Ukrainian, but it's good. Cool.
SPEAKER_01Nice. So again, three years ago, the the Titan imploded. Going down to the Titanics. The sub. Yes, the sub that imploded from I actually watched the documentary on Netflix on that. Yes. And oh my gosh, I cannot believe that like they kept going down knowing that the popping and the cracking noises happened was the hole collapsing every time they took it down for a dive. It's getting pops and cracks were getting louder and louder. Oh my god. And oh yeah. It's it's actually, I mean, I think it's like a 90-minute documentary on it. And it's it's it's on Netflix and it's really good. I forget exactly what it's called, but it might just be like Titan or whatever or something.
SPEAKER_00I just listened to a podcast this uh this weekend about uh uh an inverse of that, where it was this oil rig that instead of it whatever it did in the Titan, it did the opposite. It exploded and like exploded instead of imploded, right? And how the force was worse. Oh wow, and yeah, and and they were just anyway, it was pretty gross, but um yeah.
SPEAKER_01Gotcha. Wow. So anyway, yeah. So if you see the Titan documentary, I highly recommend it. Super Um Yeah, the AI boom, the crypto crisis.
SPEAKER_00Crypto, was there a crisis?
SPEAKER_01Uh well the founder Sam Bankman 35, whatever, was convicted of fraud.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Um I don't get into that. Yeah, and then the other stuff was pop culture stuff, and I won't bring that up because I'll let Joanne do it in her in her bit. So that's all I had for current minutes. So you're gonna do pop culture next, so go right into it. You're right.
SPEAKER_00It's been a long time coming, Taylor. In the Eras Tour. Wow.
SPEAKER_02Yep, yep. And that was 2023.
SPEAKER_002023. Holy big.
SPEAKER_02Which seemed like yesterday. Oh, it was just that long.
SPEAKER_00And then it went on for like two years. Yeah, so it was just and of course she met Travy.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes, of course. The romance of the century.
SPEAKER_00Um, it was also the year that Rihanna performed at the Super Bowl pregnant, announced her pregnancy.
SPEAKER_01Right, because I was like, because I I just watched because she got row taken up on that like flat like piece that looked like a piece of marble or something, but it was fake prop. And they take it up in the air on these cables, and I'm like, oh, pregnant girl don't need to be up there. Oh, bring her back down. Bring her back down. Bring her girl do not need to be up there. Impressed. Bring her down safe. Please bring Rihanna down safe. No reason to need to be up there pregnant. No, no.
SPEAKER_00Not at all. Um, Hollywood went on strike.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_00Writers for months and months. Yep. Um Bad Boney and Kendall Jenner were together.
SPEAKER_01Who were they? I didn't think that.
SPEAKER_00It was also the year of Scandaval.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Do you know about Scandaval? Apparently not.
SPEAKER_01Is this with like chick biker hippies or something? Girl gangs.
SPEAKER_00Scandinavian.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Now you have to watch Vanderpump Rules.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, do I have to? Yes. And I have the list of episodes.
SPEAKER_00I have the list of episodes that you need to watch in order to get caught up so that Scandaval has an impact. So I will send those out to you. Scandival.
SPEAKER_01I'll be looking for it. Wow.
SPEAKER_00Scandoval is the 2023 version of Scamanda, which is happening today.
SPEAKER_01Again, you're she's talking a different language.
SPEAKER_02I have no clue any of this stuff is in here.
SPEAKER_00So on Vanderpump Rules, there's this couple, Ariana and Tom.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00And Tom was pretty Sandoval is his name, so to speak.
SPEAKER_02Sandoval. Okay.
SPEAKER_00So he then there was a couple called James and Raquel. And Tom and James are really good friends. And he threw them this huge engagement where James proposed to Raquel. Tom organized the whole thing. So they were all good friends. And then James and Raquel broke up and she started to become really good friends with Ariana, who's with Tom. Well, a year later, Ariana finds a message or something on Tom's phone on his phone while he's performing with his band, Tom Sandoval, and the most extras. And it's from Raquel. And it reveals that they've been having like a year-long affair while she's being Ariana's best friend. Wow. So Ariana, so Raquel betrayed Ariana. Tom betrayed Ariana. It split Vanderpop rules up so bad they had to get a whole new cast. And it it was, oh my God.
SPEAKER_02It sounds absolutely. And this was pop culture. So this is something everyone was following right now.
SPEAKER_00Everyone was following this.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_00Where was where were we? I don't know. God.
SPEAKER_01And then Tom watching documentaries on the Titan of Blue Air.
SPEAKER_00Tom and his Tom and his best friend Tom were just opening. Yeah, they have a bar called Tom Tom that Lisa Vanderpump opened, and they're like the faces of it, but they try to open their own bar. And so Scandaval happened right as the bar restaurant was opening and it tanked because people were boycotting it. And like bad.
SPEAKER_02It's not a scandalous.
SPEAKER_00Sandoval has had to go on like all these reality shows, a kind of like a makeup tour. And he was on American Idol. American Idol? No, America's Got Talent with his band. So he's he's making the rounds trying to get money.
SPEAKER_01Trying to get it anyway. It was a maybe he should try to get to 500 subscribers on YouTube. He would say listening to this little have a YouTube account. Look for Spin Dive Podcast on YouTube and like and subscribe to our channel. Because once we get to 500 subscribers, we can actually start monetizing and actually making money off of 500 subscribers. And maybe we'll be able to do that. And we we promise there will be video content. And there will be video content. There's already a couple videos up there now, but all of their our broadcasts are on there. It's just a picture of us, and then like you know, you can listen to it in the background through YouTube. Let us know what channels are some short videos.
SPEAKER_02Maybe there's things you want to see. We any videos you might want to see. Uh, do you want a tour of my neighborhood?
SPEAKER_03I want to see chickens where the chickens run in Texas.
SPEAKER_01The chickens running. Anyway, so please like and subscribe. Subscribe. This is a huge thing. 500 subscribers, and I think we have like 13. Excellent. So if you have a country, please subscribe to the show. Which is a great number. Gotta start somewhere.
SPEAKER_00Taylor would be proud of us.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Taylor would be proud. Start somewhere.
SPEAKER_02Hey, it's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01Gotcha. Was that it for your your current events? Yes, I am wiped out after that.
SPEAKER_02That was a lot of culture. Oh, sweet. So, Dave, do you have food? I do. I want to say thank you to Taco Bell, because in 2023 they reintroduced the volcano menu. Oh big thing, not as scandalous as Scandavolus or whatever. Right, or whatever that was. Not as big, but um, we had food trends that were spicy and tangy as a combination. Our popular spice was tamarind. Okay. Was it very big and then all of a sudden it was. Um, and there was everything was dusted with the with the spice. Um, Chick-fil-A created a new sandwich for the first time. I did not know this, but in 2023, they had branched out of just serving waffle fries and chicken sandwiches and actually created the honey pepper pimento chicken sandwich.
SPEAKER_00I vaguely remember that so good. I got that every time I went to Chick-fil-A.
SPEAKER_02And then from there, I guess they just got whimsical because now they're releasing everything all the time. Right. Uh, a bunch of different changes. Uh, Subway created a footlong, but it wasn't just the sandwich. They created footlong pretzel, the footlong churro. Oh, I remember that. And the footlong.
SPEAKER_01That was just three years ago. Three years ago. I remember the footlong cookie. I do. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, footlong cookies. Isn't this weird?
SPEAKER_01I thought some of the memory met stuff too. I'm I do. I haven't been to Subway that often.
SPEAKER_02No, I haven't either. Um, and uh Burger King created something that I always thought was a um one of these um uh fortunate accidents where you you'd go to Burger King and you would get your fries, and there'd be this rando onion ring in there.
SPEAKER_01Or a fry in your onion ring. Or vice versa, right?
SPEAKER_02And you'd be like, oh my gosh, that's so cool. You know, and then you have that extra thing. They created a thing called the half-sies, and it's basically play on the word half-sies where it's half onion rings, half fries. But you can also do the chicken fries.
SPEAKER_01Oh, the chicken fries are good too. You can do the half of that with half onion rings or half, like so you can do those as well. Yeah. Well that's like a meal to anything. I know, right? Right? I know. And these are just one box. Why is BK not like ruling the burger rings? I have no clue.
SPEAKER_00I love Burger King. I might be aside from Chick-fil-A, it's my favorite. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Love BK.
SPEAKER_02Um Arby's breaks the tradition of their own thing and adds hamburgers, fish, chicken, and corned beef, euro meat, and turkey. Now they have all the meats. They went all the meats.
SPEAKER_00We have the meats, isn't that them? Yeah, pretty much. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But they were traditionally started off to just being roast beef.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That was it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. If you went in there, they were oh, you wanted chicken? No, sorry, no chicken.
SPEAKER_01I saw a video the other day of these guys that are obsessed with Arby's and they have their online, you know, channel and on YouTube and all stuff like that. And Arby's like took note of them finally and sent them a uh little, it's like the old cowboy hat, the old logo. Oh, yeah, yeah. And it actually says Arby's Delicious Roast Beef on it, and it's like a light up neon sign. And so cool. And like they're they're opening this thing and they pull it out, and they it's like, you know, as big as like, you know, this thing. And it's like, oh my god, this is awesome. And you send them like Arby's delicious. That's really song.
SPEAKER_02We need to be obsessed with something. We could be obsessed with we'll have to come up with something.
SPEAKER_00I'm sure we already stole Herbie's songs.
SPEAKER_01I know, I know. Just one thing.
SPEAKER_00Just one thing. Well, Trader Joe's.
SPEAKER_01I think um you are a Trader Joe freaking.
SPEAKER_00If I if I can get you all hooked into it, there's Bucky's would be good. I think are you going to Bucky's before you hit Bucky's at all? I'm not. I was going to, but then something happened. I was gonna ask for that. It's like an hour and a half away. I know.
SPEAKER_01You know, it's not that far away. It's it's yeah, it's two hours. It's 45 minutes from me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's closer, closer to you. If I had more time on because it's like the airport and then another half an hour to Bucky's, if I had more time, I would go born.
SPEAKER_02I got you. Okay, no worries. And the most um, I'm sorry, God. Dude, I miss something. Ooh. Okay, sorry.
SPEAKER_00Next next time I will bring.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Okay, perfect. Um, voted the most inspiring food was cottage cheese. Now, I love cottage cheese. And you know what I found at the gallon, the gallon bucket. It was not five gallons. Remember, it was a five-gallon one.
SPEAKER_01I thought it would be.
SPEAKER_02This one was only two, but it was I finished it in three days. I love cottage cheese. I'm so good. I could eat it like all the time. Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_01People, trust me, it is it is disgusting to watch him sit down with a tub of cottage cheese and just watching a show. Oh my god, he's just God.
SPEAKER_00It's like 10:30 at night. It's scary. He'll grab like the quart of cottage cheese and just sit there and eat it, like standing up over the sink.
SPEAKER_02Really, I like it. Um Perne used to buy the big Shenandoah Pride one at the Costco, which was five gallons of cottage cheese.
SPEAKER_01It wasn't just bought it once. I don't think I bought it multiple times.
SPEAKER_02You did buy it once, but it was enough. Um, and it did not cure my uh obsession with cottage cheese. I do still eat cottage cheese. Oh my gosh, yes. It was probably a that was probably a weak turnaround. That was five gallons, it was a lot, but yeah, I can't. Yeah, I could swap meals. I can't just have cottage cheese. You can't. Um, and then voted the most creative. Everything pickle. It seemed like we were getting new styles of things that were pickled. Oh, pickles, yeah. Just started there. And uh Grubhub reported that they had an 89% increase of orders with pickled items.
SPEAKER_01Really? Yes. Did I see you guys that video of the guy with the pickles rubber banded to his head? No. Singing the oh see? I knew I sent it. Did you get you see the one that says I send these videos to my friends and this is their response? Yes. Oh, you did see that one. I saw that one. Like I never watched your video.
SPEAKER_03What? I never watched your video of my response.
SPEAKER_01No, never watched your video. I didn't see that. And that's all I got. You sent me some shit. That's all my food news. Cool. Oh, so I'm back to music then. Okay. Unless we have a do we have a uh Oh, do you want to do a quick taste test? Do we have a quick taste test? Joanne, do you have yours?
SPEAKER_02Do you have yours out? Yeah. I've been looking at it all week. The picture. You're waiting on it, you were just staring at it.
SPEAKER_01So I've been on my desk. Joanne found these over the weekend, and then I went and found them today. I looked for them, but I couldn't find them. So my goodness.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that is a the Kelsey brothers. We're sponsored by them.
SPEAKER_01Big Marshall. Okay. Well, see, we can I can use Reese's as a sponsor. That'd be great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Now that they've gone back to their new recipe, their old recipe.
SPEAKER_01So this is the Reese's Big Cup. Reese's marshmallow. That is a thick pizza. Well, yeah, it's a big cup.
SPEAKER_03It's a big cup.
SPEAKER_01It's a big cup. It doesn't say big cup. My kids try. Yes, it does, right? About Reese's. It says big cup.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I can barely read that. Oh my gosh. They're a small big cup. You're blind. So we're all we're all opening up. Here we go. I got the gift wrapping. Yes. I haven't actually eaten mine yet. Why don't you guys go first? Um, this thing is actually really thick. I would have to say that's about uh half an inch thick. That is crazy. All the big cups are like that.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Gotta remember that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, even the peeboy and dry ones. Really?
SPEAKER_02Oh, that'd be like a big thing.
SPEAKER_00I was so excited because I love peanut butter and marshmallow.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_00But this is too divided. It's peanut butter, a layer of chocolate, and then the marshmallow.
SPEAKER_01Marshmallow, and then another layer of the chocolate on the bottom.
SPEAKER_00It should have been not divided.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_00Because you get the marshmallow taste totally separate.
SPEAKER_01I would agree with that. Maybe that the peanut butter and the marshmallow interacted weird, and that's why they had to put the layer of the chocolate in the middle between it. Probably not good.
SPEAKER_00Not not worth it.
SPEAKER_01No, I'd say so.
SPEAKER_00Stick with the regular.
SPEAKER_01So my kids I got them for my kids today too. Yeah. And they tried them. And nobody overwhelmingly loved it. Right. But and it was their their thought was like, I because I asked them, I said, would you get one again if you saw it? And they're like, no. No. I'm like, okay. But did they stop eating it? Oh, they finished it. Yeah, I always candy.
SPEAKER_00You gotta finish it once you open it.
SPEAKER_02Candy. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think the marshmallow is too sweet or something.
SPEAKER_02I guess something wrong with it. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01No, that's a that's a weird taste. I'm gonna say miss.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna say also miss.
SPEAKER_01I will never buy one of these again or eat it.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Even if someone gave me a free one, I'd be like, no, thanks. I'm okay.
SPEAKER_00No. Well, I I would eat just the peanut butter part.
SPEAKER_02That's true. I think it makes it taste a little different.
SPEAKER_00If somebody gave it to me.
SPEAKER_02This might be the new recipe. They amount of the colour. Oh, maybe it's gone back to the original. Yeah. If this is the new recipe, I hate it. I do too.
SPEAKER_00It's it's leaving my tongue a little um tinkly.
SPEAKER_02You got a bad one then. I would have to say you actually shouldn't have opened it. You had a spicy one.
SPEAKER_03Should have checked the date. Should have checked the date on the bottom.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Okay. So we're gonna say big meas on Greese's marshmallow three thumbs down. Let's try.
SPEAKER_00This week I'll bring some Trader Joe's stuff.
SPEAKER_02Oh perfect. Perfect. Awesome. Um, so are we are we good for another good hour of the podcast? Because music's coming up.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Easy now. I enjoy it.
SPEAKER_02I go long on one thing and you're very passionate about it. Yeah, I wouldn't call it long, I'd say passionate about it.
SPEAKER_01Passionate, yeah. Well, the songs of 2023, I you know, I do know the songs. Yeah, yeah. I do know them, but I wasn't really listening to that much pop that stuff. But I know like the number one song that year was Morgan Wallen's Last Night. Do you know it?
SPEAKER_00I don't know that one.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I know it. I can't sing it, but I I know I know of it because it was.
SPEAKER_02You could sing it and I still wouldn't get it. So that's that's nice.
SPEAKER_01Second was Miley Cyrus's Flowers. Yes, I remember that. That was that that one got played a lot.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I think that's a really response to what's his name.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Was it Harry Styles? No.
SPEAKER_00Um Bruno Mars, maybe?
SPEAKER_01I don't remember.
SPEAKER_00I couldn't bug that one. Oh, yeah, yeah. That one?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Right. That's Bruno Mars.
SPEAKER_00Is it okay? Good.
SPEAKER_01He's uh playing in DC this weekend. Wow. So two nights at Vedic's Field. Wow, two nights. Wow. Yeah, in a stadium. That's awesome. Anyway. Um Siza Kill Bill. Remember that? No. I do. I remember Sizzle Sizes Kill Bill. Uh the number four song, Joanne, can you call it?
SPEAKER_02In your hand. Is it a Taylor Swift song? There it's half of it. Oh, she's uh paired up with someone. That should be nice.
SPEAKER_01No, I half of it you got the artist. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00The torture poets, or no, uh, Fortnite.
SPEAKER_01No, it would be Anti-Hero was the Oh, was still? Yeah, Anti-Hero was the number four song.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it must have come back.
SPEAKER_01I guess like crazy. Wow. Um just a bunch of other songs. The Luke Combs uh Fast Car cover, Tracy Chapman. Oh, from the Grammys. Yep. Well, no, it was he had already released it as a single, but then yeah, the Grammy performance was just like tied into it. That was great. That was amazing. Made it more popular. Oh, The Weekend, Die For You, uh, more Morgan Wallen, some Drake, as it was, Harry Styles, uh Cruel Summer, Taylor Swift was at 18. And I thought I thought that got played a lot more than that.
SPEAKER_00This is all because of the Eras Tour.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Um more Morgan Wallen, more yeah, Taylor Swift Karma.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um Olivia Rodrigo's Vampire. I hated that song. Hated that song so much.
SPEAKER_00Reagan loves her. I don't get it.
SPEAKER_01I I she's hit or miss with me. I mean, like, when I see like on YouTube or whatever, the live her and and performance and doing, I'm like, well, she's singing and she's like really like kicking it, so she's not lip syncing and like um full respect, girl. Go for it. Uh Lavender Haze, Taylor Swift, Jelly Roll, Dua Lipa, Dance the Night. Oh, because that was I can't believe you didn't mention it in your pop culture.
SPEAKER_00I haven't. I haven't brought it up yet for movies.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Sorry. Never mind. Okay, because it's a crossover three-way. Yep, there we go. Hello. Hello. Hello. It's a three-way. It's a crossover three-way.
SPEAKER_02Bing bang bang bing.
SPEAKER_01Hold on. Let me see if I have that. I have that one. That's a good one. Yes, I should always keep that one.
SPEAKER_02Yes, a crossover three-way, just in case we say something dumb like that.
SPEAKER_01Here, I got this one for you, though.
SPEAKER_02It's perfect. I love it. That's nice. Now, do we have to pay someone for that?
SPEAKER_01Nope, nope, though. That's our beginning. Close. Oh, there's this one.
SPEAKER_02That doesn't really scream through A.
SPEAKER_01Wait, what was I looking for? Oh, the it was the Yeah, the horn. Oh, the rap horn. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Oh. That's it.
SPEAKER_02There you go.
SPEAKER_01Finally found it.
SPEAKER_0250-20 minutes. That's okay. Well, you know what? When we're faster on the draw for those now. Now that we know we're going to be doing that, that'd be great.
SPEAKER_00That's going to be great on video.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes, right. It'll all come out. It would be even better if it was a puppet.
SPEAKER_01Right. Also, your doja cap paints the town red, Megan Trainer, Mike Caraming's All I Want for Christmas is You is at number 55 of the most popular songs of the year. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_00Every Christmas. Number 55.
SPEAKER_01That is a good one. What was the Megan Trainer one? Megan Trainer was Made You Look. Oh. Oh. Oh, I love that song. Yeah. Made You Look. That was good. Um Yeah, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Closed Eyes. Dave, you know who Ed Sheeran is, right?
SPEAKER_02I picturing in my head, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Bad Bunny had a single Doja. Is he Redhead? Oh, a Postalon or Doja Cat. I Like You. Do you remember that one?
SPEAKER_00No, I know that one.
SPEAKER_01That was a that was a boppy little song. I'm sure Joanne, if you just hear it clip on, you'd be like, all right, that one. Yeah. Because it it was so pop, pop sweet, and it came and went so fast. And the song's literally two minutes and 20 seconds long. It's not even a full three minutes. And it's like the song comes and goes, and it's just like that very sweet, gives you the right, you know, flavor. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I will listen to it.
SPEAKER_01And then I would say this was probably my favorite song of that year. Of the whole year. At number 81. Wow. Is What Was I Made For by Billie Eilish.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was so good.
SPEAKER_01That song I think is absolutely beautiful. And it from the way she from beginning to end sings it, and it is just it's it's heartbreaking. It's just everything. Yeah. So I I've never been a Billie Eilish fan when she first came out. I was like, what the fuck is this? And then like, yeah, and like you know, and she had singles on the radio, and I know her song stuff, but I've never been a fan of hers until that song came out, and I was like, oh my gosh. Yeah, I was like, she won she won me over with that one. So very in at 84, wham! With last Christmas. All the Christmas ones pop up.
SPEAKER_00That's every Christmas, the these classics chart.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, but were they that big when they first came out?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Because there was nothing else going on in the 80s.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Last Christmas and and All I Want for Christmas were Mariah Carey. Both of those are yeah. Like I know I remember at one point hearing Mariah Carey or some something about how every Christmas the royalties she makes off of just that song. Right. Because she actually wrote the lyrics and wrote the song. So she's a songwriter on it. And she gets the money out of it. She gets everything. It's like it's well over a million dollars every Christmas. I'm like, can you imagine getting like a million-dollar bonus at the end of every year like that? That's amazing. Like, oh, here's a million dollars. No, it's just gonna be there.
SPEAKER_00Be a songwriter, kids.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, write songs, write them, write them. Yeah, you're rolling the dice sometimes.
SPEAKER_01All right, Joanne. So you're on to movies. We'll we'll segue into the movies. The movies Barbenheimer. Barbenheimer, absolutely. There's our three way. Opening weekend. It was go see Barbie and Oppenheimer. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Back to back.
SPEAKER_01The weekend, back to back, exactly. Go from one theater to the other and watch them back to back. Now I saw Barbie's second weekend, and I didn't see Oppenheimer until it was on like HBO Max, but I didn't watch it.
SPEAKER_00You know what actually did better than Oppenheimer? Super Mario Brothers. Oh my god, it crushed. Yes. Oh my god. It was like just as good as Barbie.
SPEAKER_01Right. Yes. Yeah, it was it was crazy. Like three billion dollars. Three to four hundred dollars. Yeah, in the US alone. And it was just insane theme, right?
SPEAKER_00Um, Guardians of the Galaxy, another one of those. Fast and Furious, Spider-Man. Spider-Man was that? Uh Across the Spider-Verse.
SPEAKER_01Oh, the economic one. Right. I got halfway through it and I was enjoying it, and then I never went back and finished it. Oh, the second one's really good.
SPEAKER_00This could be something from 15 years ago. Fast and Furious, Mission Impossible, Little Mermaid, John Wick, Transformers. Exactly. Indiana Jones. I mean, come on, people.
SPEAKER_02Well, that was the Crystal Skull, wasn't it? No.
SPEAKER_00It was uh Dial of Destiny.
SPEAKER_02Oh, oh, that's true.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Hunger. Which I asked.
SPEAKER_01I liked it was okay.
SPEAKER_02I didn't like when they had the um the CGI characters when they unaged them.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Well Oh, right. Yeah, I gotcha. No, I still I I just went with the the ride. I got on the just like whatever. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Best movie of the year coming in at number 30.
SPEAKER_01What was that?
SPEAKER_00Taylor Swift, the Aeros Tour. Oh, of course.
SPEAKER_02Of course. Yes. Of course. It's uh it's Oscar worthy, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01How did that get like best documentary or something? Migrating it.
SPEAKER_00It won some stuff. Not an I don't think it won an Oscar or anything, but it won other things. Um, Killers of the Flower Moon, that won an Oscar.
SPEAKER_03Yep, I remember that year. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_00You took a bullet for the rest of us.
SPEAKER_02Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_01Yes. It saved us from watching that.
SPEAKER_00Poor Things. I think you also watched that.
SPEAKER_01And I I liked Poor Things. That ended. My wife looked at me and she goes, Don't even tell me you liked that.
SPEAKER_00I was like, I did like it. Did you watch the Haunted Mansion movie?
SPEAKER_01I did. I didn't. Yeah. No.
SPEAKER_00Was it good? Yes.
SPEAKER_01Is that on Disney Possum? It was okay.
SPEAKER_00Might be.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'll have to check on that.
SPEAKER_00Um, Cocaine Bear.
SPEAKER_01Oh, right. Yeah. I I really tried to like it. I did, and I just couldn't. I I watched the whole thing and I was like really hoping that it was gonna be like you know, stupid over the top funny. And it wasn't, it was still trying to be a serious horror movie, but with the I don't know. Wasn't the bear missed, totally missed for me. Sorry, I wasn't a cocaine bear fan. No, just like I was I was not a snakes on a plane fan either. Oh, true. But that's a whole other genre.
SPEAKER_00One thing I thought would be good, and I have yet to watch it, The Boys in the Boat. Did you read that about the rowing team from University of Washington? Okay. No, that's another period piece. Wow.
SPEAKER_02Of course. Rowing? Of course. Oh, that's great. Ye old.
SPEAKER_01I will I will take note of that in my journal tonight.
SPEAKER_00I love rowing.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00And I love rowing movies. How many are there?
SPEAKER_02Are there a lot?
SPEAKER_00I got into it because of Oxford Blues.
SPEAKER_02I was about to say, oh my goodness. That's about the only thing I was about to say. Okay, so there's I remember that. But it wasn't all about rowing. But I guess maybe I mean he was in the rowing movie. Pretty much. He was in the game, but that wasn't the whole freaking movie. The one that she's talking about before is the whole movie is just rowing movies. The whole movie is about the rowers, yeah. Yeah. Is it just rowing or is it boat movies? Because there's a bunch of you know, white. No, it's just rowing. Just crew. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Just crew. Yeah. And this one is a is about um, if I remember correctly, like all the guys who were on the team were scholarships, and that's how they could go to the university. So it's it's got depth to it, but it was number like 80 of the year because only I would watch it.
SPEAKER_02Yes, it was a limited audience, yes. Limited audience. Rowers and uh and people who wanted to watch rowers. So exactly.
SPEAKER_00It's a niche, maybe um Saltburn. Have you guys seen Saltburn?
SPEAKER_01No, that was uh directed by oh, what is his name? Um I I heard it was a little too weird. I did I did see.
SPEAKER_00I watched it three times, and what do I say? I never watch anything more than more than once.
SPEAKER_01And you won't watch begonia again.
SPEAKER_00No, I don't put that in there. It's coming on Netflix. I don't know. Oh, it is.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna probably watch begonia again this weekend.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, Saltburn was freaking amazing. It was way down at number 139.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I need a synopsis. But that was only on Netflix release.
SPEAKER_01It wasn't released in the theaters, was it?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, it was. It made 21 million worldwide.
SPEAKER_01Oh, wow, broke the bank. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I don't know. I mean, it had it had Jacob Ellerty in it, and it had the boy who dated Sabrina Carpenter, whose name I always forget, the Irish boy.
SPEAKER_03Gotcha. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I can't give you a synopsis because it's too much.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00You just have to you, it's better if you go in not knowing anything about it and don't Google anything about it. Salt burn. Just go in like it doesn't exist.
SPEAKER_02And then don't I'm already there. Uh good lord. Okay. Salt burn. What else?
SPEAKER_00I know there are some things you'll have to get. You'll it they'll be hurdles, but it'll it'll be fine.
SPEAKER_02Oh, perfect. I love it.
SPEAKER_00It'll be fine.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Because they're reading in it, because that's gonna be a problem. Yes, they do read. No, I meant not out loud, but subtitles. Subtitles.
SPEAKER_00Oh, subtitles? I mean it's British.
SPEAKER_02Oh, Jesus. No, I'm joking. It's uh old English. Okay, great.
SPEAKER_00And there's some the mom is someone famous. I forgot.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, I mean, basically I know selling it as a it's just amazing. I watched it twice. Load of no bugs.
SPEAKER_01Well, you said you watched it three times. Yeah, you said three times. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I did watch it three times.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, everything else, like it's just scream six, you know. Oh well. Another exorcist. Blah, blah, blah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, gotcha.
SPEAKER_00And that is my report. Okay. Excellent.
SPEAKER_01Good deal. So Dave you got what ahead. Nobody's gonna say it.
SPEAKER_03Nobody's gonna say it.
SPEAKER_02I almost did it, but then I'm like, I kind of have many bars. I have to uh uh adjust our title for that. It's dead because everyone, because normally what I do with the dead or alive is I say the people who were born three-year-olds out there, two and three-year-olds, yes. So I looked that up though, and there's a list, but everyone on the list was two and three years old, and they were all TikTok and Instagram stars, like all the kids. Because all the parents are getting their kids into it, all the names. I didn't recognize a single name. And I was like, who are these people? And they were a lot of them were all Instagram and TikTok uh influencer, not influencer, but they put their kids on and they their names were because of that. And I went, okay, but we cannot read any of those. All right, so we got one a dead. Um, yeah. So um oh there was one birth of of note. Um, a rare spot uh spotless giraffe was born in Tennessee. Oh cutie. So there was that one. So there you go, feel good. Um, and again, then uh on another quirk, uh, we turned around and went to the uh deaths page, which is everybody who passed away in 2023. Uh rest in peace. Um, it was six pages long. Never had it since every time I've done this, it's been like two or three. So I'm gonna rattle off a handful of them. Uh this was the year Matthew Perry passed away. No, that is not a highlight. No, no. Uh Jerry Springer, uh Tina Turner, Lisa Marie Presley, uh Paul Rubens passed away. Oh Paul Paul. Yeah. Uh Lance Reddick, uh, Jimmy Buffett. So all those uh closed. Yeah. Uh Bob Barker, uh, Andre Bar uh Borough. This is depressing. I know Sinead O'Connor, Harry Belfante, Alan Arkin, Tony Bennett, uh, Raquel Welsh, uh Richard Mole.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Nightcore.
SPEAKER_02Uh Richard Belzer, uh Gordon Lightfoot, and uh Michael Gambon. Gambon. Gambon. Um he played uh the Dumbledore, the second Dumbledore.
SPEAKER_01Oh, God.
SPEAKER_02Which seemed to be like a curse because all the Dumbledores were ahead of the biggest. He'll be dead. Um, but I did mention there were a couple of uh innovators. Uh Jeff Beck uh passed away, but he was famous for being on the Yardbirds and was consistently top five Rolling Stone greatest. Guitar players ever. Yes. So he's very up and amazing. Jeff Beck. Yep. Um I thought he was in a different band. No, he was just in solo.
SPEAKER_01After the Yardbirds and uh Bobby Hull passed away. Yep.
SPEAKER_02Um famous uh Canadian hockey player who won Stanley Cup in 1961 with the Chicago Blackhawks. Um Mary Quaint. Now this one uh you're not gonna really know, um, but she was a fashion designer and a 1960s icon polarized the mini skirt and the mod look. So basically, this was the tight uh uh um I'm sorry, uh tight suits, the the light white suits and the um squared off uh mini skirts of multi colors and geometric shapes. I looked it up and I was just like, well, what is this mod thing they're talking about? But it was uh actually a whole that was the style. What is this mod thing? The mod thing.
SPEAKER_00What's this mod thing?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, uh Sandra Day O'Connor. Mod squad? Yeah, that's so that's kind of the look. So if you think mod squad and uh and when they would do the characters in that, that's what they would dress at. That's what you're kind of getting. Um Sandra J. O'Connor, she was the first uh woman's Supreme Court Justice, uh breaking the seal.
SPEAKER_00Appointed by Ronald Reagan.
SPEAKER_02Yes, and uh and the last one I have here is uh Marty Croft, uh Our Childhood Shaped by uh Marty Croft uh Seals and Croft. Yes, uh yes, and uh Seals and Croft Puffins. No, no, no. Uh uh Marty Croft. Uh that would be um Sid and Marty Croft. Yeah, H.R. Puffin stuff, Land of the Lost, Sign and the Sea Monster. Um yeah, I watched the Sea Monster. I watched all those.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I think Electro Girl or Electro Woman and Dynagar. Dr. Shrinker. I've actually watched episodes of that within the past year. Believe it or not, volume.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. The Bugaloos, the Bugaloose, the Buggaloos everywhere. In the sky. Yeah, so yeah, we have that one. Yeah, but again, uh, you know, um, when you come home from school, Sid and Marty Croft were on uh channel 20. So you got to watch the Sid Marty Croft hour. Exactly. Yeah, channel 20, Captain 20. All right, are you ready to spin it? I oh god, no.
SPEAKER_01Um, well, why well while you're while you're getting your spinner up. So uh Electra Woman and Dina Girl. Yes. Electro Woman was um Deedra Hall. Deedra Hall, yes. And oh my god, absolutely gorgeous. She's like so beautiful. And then uh I forget who played Dina Girl.
SPEAKER_02I don't even remember. I know it's a name I know.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but Deedra Hall playing. I do. That's all you needed to know. That was it, just Deedra Hall.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I'm ready to space. Okay, so good padding, good padding.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, uh 2003. Sure. Okay, okay, good for that. Another workshop. Now we're backing out again, so that's good. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_01That's what she said.
SPEAKER_02Perfect.
SPEAKER_01Hello. Oh, sorry. Uh okay, so I'll see you guys next week. Yes. All right, bye. T T bye.
